Milner want to try in left back for England

after wayne bridge reject the call of Capello and Ashley cole is injured, the weak position for England in world cup is left full back.
milner believe he can do it if Capello ask him to play in that position even he is unexperienced with the position. only for england, i do it, said of Milner. so whats do you think? can milner show that his level is same with ashley cole in left full back?

Hi adhyz,
I think what Milner trying to do is to be in England squad for 2010 World Cup. Since he has little experience on senior side, I do not think Capello will give much thought about it.
Whether Milner can be as good as Ashley Cole in left back position, no one know because Milner never play in that position before. And with only Egypt game left before World Cup for England (which is Milner does not included), the chance we see Milner play at that position can be consider zero.
Even though England might loss Ashley Cole and Wayne Bridge for the 2010 World Cup selection, they still have a few good player that are available and have more experience then Milner like Joleon Lescott and Stephen Warnock.

Warnock now play with Aston Villa and he play superb there. He is now one of regular in England squad but not have much playing time. I think he can be as good as Ashley Cole with his runs and crossing. Maybe need sometime to gather some experience to be a permanent left back in England squad.

Well, we can never know. No one knew Milner can play so well as center midfielder when he was playing as a right winger all the time at Newcastle. However, with talents such as Lampard and Gerrard in England, Milner may not have what it takes to be inside the World Cup squad as a midfielder. So, if he can play as a left full back, maybe he can play for England since it has less competition.
