hi! i heard it before that just by looking at the person's face, facial expression, etc, you can detect whether he's lying or not. They said when a person's nose flairs, he's lying. Which i dont think is true. But there are some people who really knows how to handle themselves especially when lying. No one can ever tell whether he's telling the truth or not. what do you think about it? have you heard any stories like this?

A lot of facial expressions & people's posture might have something to do with their cultural background. Here in U.S., a lot of people think a person is lying when they're not or won't look at them straight in the eyes. Well, back where I came from, that would be considered as challenge to their authority. When a student gets called up by a teacher & was asked a question, if the student looked at the teacher straight in their eyes, that would be considered as a bad thing, not honesty. Samething with parents & their kids. Tone of voice can be same. We should look at what people can't control instead of what can be influenced by cultural up bringing. People may not look at you straight into your eyes but weather their eyes move to the left or right might make a difference. Left side of the brain controls interlect & right side of the brain controls creativity. Therefore, it's been said that your eyes will move one way or another if you're making up a story or remembering a story.

Often facial expression will give away weather someone is telling a lie or not. The problem is that you have to know the person somewhat to be able to tell. Some tell tale signs or clues that someone may be lying are stuttering, blinking excessively, flaring of nostrils or making funny twitches with their mouth. But be causious of judging someone unless you know what their normal facial features are when telling the truth or you may jump to the wrong conclusion.

If a person tends to look away this usually indicates that they are not telling the truth.I do think that there are a few people out there that convince themselves that they are telling the truth so they can cover up their lies as they also do not change their facial expression while they are telling you a pack of lies.
