Characteristics of the Book

A lot of places you go for religious services are too nice, they refuse to preach on the bad subjects for fear of offending someone. However, the Bible rarely sugarcoats anything and whether you choose to believe is up to you. One thing you will notice is that the bible tells you the sins of everyone, even its good guys. You know who committed adultery, who killed who, who betrayed who. The bible isnt afraid to talk about taboo or off colored topics. Everything is dealt with in its entirety. If someone lied they lied, if someone was truthful, they told the truth. The limitation of every individual is listed for all to see. That is one of the characteristics I admire about the book and I wish that churches would take a page out of the book and deal with the tough questions so that people get a complete education, instead of being a fun church that watches what you say. What do you think?

I think the Church has become afflicted by the politically correct syndrome. Preachers are afraid of not preaching about sin but putting the emphasis on forgiveness. there is no harm in preaching forgiveness but let;s call a spade a spade. What is wrong should not be portrayed as something good. Otherwise we are putting our values topsy turvy!

If someone claims to be of God and doesn't want to acknowledge the bad as well as the good and be truthful about it to their best of what they have been taught, then they do not need to be in a position of leadership. To hide the truth by ignoring it could be and WOULD be considered blasphemous by some. It's intentionally misleading.

While I hear you talking this is so common that it is really hard to say that everyone should go. I think that in an effort to recruit more they make the service fun instead of teaching the total word.

That's why it's called Bible. But I guess you should never dictate the truth. After all, everyone finds their own truth and it's all up to them to change it. I can't deny people who say that "I'm my own truth." But I will simply laugh if there is a person who says "I'm the truth."

Amen! These churches are not true churches of God. To me, preaching the word of God is not something to be taken lightly. Every issue must be addressed! The Ten Commandments are a major part of who we are as Christians and if a church cannot openly talk about adultery, murder, and lies, people need to flee from them! When in doubt, turn to the Holy Bible, it is the word of God and it has the answers to all of our questions, as well as the paths we are to take! Great topic Pastor Kayte!
