hi. when we see something abnormal in children , we seek medical help for them or put them in rehabilitation center in a hope that they will change. but if someone tells you that you need lessons on parenting, will you be embarrased. is it difficult for parents to accept that even they can be wrong or blamed for child's misbehaviour? how will you react if someone tell you that?

I would go to the parenting lessons, because it would be great to be able to get help to build confidence in parenting skills. I would never consider it an insult if I was offered parenting classes.

For me, I see it as an opportunity to learn more on parenting. Not everybody is perfect and learning more won't be something that you should be embarassed about. I do go to parenting seminars in church just so I can learn more and maybe exchange information with other parents. See it as a positive gain and not a negative thing, you will learn alot from other parents as well.

I have taken parenting classes and was not ashamed at all. What is there to be ashamed of? It's not like kids come with an instruction manual. Granted, most of it is common sense, but it is easy to become blinded to your child or just feel plain overwhelmed at times. I learned some good things and am glad I took it.

Would I find it embarrassing.. Maybe. But I would see this as an opportunity to learn from a child care/child psychology professional and from talking to other parents about problems that they may face and the techniques that they employ to resolve them.
While parents are to blame for some childrens' behavior, there are many things that factor into the behavior of a child. As children grow, their thoughts become more independent of what they are taught anyway, and they make decisions of their own. Just because someone shakes their finger in the air at you, or anyone of any age for that matter, and tells you "Thats bad dont do it or Ill take away your toys and spank you", doesn't mean that they aren't willing to face the consequences no matter how minor or dire they may be. Just take a look at American prisons..
