I just made chicken soup yesterday because my daughter loves soup. It is one of her favorite foods. I made it with 5 chicken drumsticks and when they were tender I took all the meat off the bones, so everyone had a nice share of cooked chicken in their soup. It was yummy and my daughter was happy and kissed me because she was enjoying it . I told my son I wanted to please him too and that today I was going to cook his favorite food. I did. He ate a lot.

Hi Mady. My husband is a great cook and I love it when he makes his soups. I on the other hand don't really care to cook. I can cook but he is better at it then me. It is good that you made your sons favorite food to make him not feel left out. Your a good mother.

Hi Mady. Your welcome I can see the pride you have for your children in the way you talk. All children fuss and fight. That don't mean they don't love each other. I have had some pretty good fights with my siblings but if one of them called me today and said they needed my help I would do what I could to help them. I still love them even though we don't see eye to eye on all things.

Thanks. I try not to take sides or show favoritism. I try to treat them same even though it's not easy because somehow society "makes us" treat boys and girls a little different. So far it's working out. They are very close and even though they fight they adore each other.

Hi Se7enthbird. Guess we are the lucky ones we don't like to cook and have great partners that love to cook. I like you don't mind doing the clean up work either. I can cook but I really don't like to cook.

Hi Se7enthbird. My husband cooks all the time he loves to cook. He puts rice in the soups he makes. I love the way he cooks.I really wasn't taught to cook. When I cook don't know what it will turn out like so my husband does a lot of the cooking. Thank God he is a great cook. Makes me think of being in a fine resturant when he cooks. Yummy stuff!

I have been very happily married for 50 years this month and have raised 5 wonderful sons. We never eat out, but enjoy home cooking. Having said that, I have to confess to never having made soup - until last year when I bought an electric slow cooker. Now, we have quite a lot of home made soup of all kinds and love them. I set a big pot of vegies or whatever to cook in the morning, and 7 hours later we have a big supply of home made soup to last a few days. They are sooooooooooo much better than packet or canned soups and make a delicious thick hot drink for supper.

Hi Cloudwatcher. Congratulations on a happy 50 year marriage. I hope our marriage last as long as yours. You sound like a very proud parent. 5 Sons Wow.I had mostly girls and boy they were a hand full. I don't cook much with this husband he loves to cook and I don't really like to cook. I would rather be in the yard digging in the flower beds or mowing the yard. I can cook and cook very well but it isn't something that I really care to do. Since my children are all grown I just can't seem to make myself do the cooking. I bet your soups are delicious. I haven't ever really liked soups cause they just never tasted good to me. But I love the soups my husband makes. Makes my mouth water thinking about the soup we will have for dinner this evening. Yummy stuff.

I do. Mainly because I have problems with salt and commercially made soup is loaded with it. There's also the fact homemade tastes much better.

I love salt, it just doesn't love me! I do salt my food but avoid the processed foods with all the salt in them.

Hi Irishidid. My husband makes homemade soup all the time. I don't have a problem with salt other then I can't get enough of it. I have been eating a lot of salt all my life and when I go to the doctor they always tell me that I have the blood pressure of a young person. I have never had any problems with eating a lot of salt. My husband does he don't eat much of it I guess that is one reason he cooks soups like he does.

Hi Irishidid. I use sea salt. I have never avoided salt of any kind. I am so sorry that those salts bother you. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't eat salt like I do.

Hello free_man - I myself have never made homemade chicken soup. I think that homemade chicken soup or stew is very delicious though. My husband and I only know how to make a few things, and besides soup in a can, we can not make any type of soup. Though Some soups are easy to make, it's just cutting the ingredients up and letting it stay in the crock pot until it's done, or in a big pot until it's done. Well You enjoy that chicken soup.

I make homemade soups of all sorts, I think they are so much tastier and better for you because you can put in fresh ingredients and control the amount of salt and fat that goes in as well.

I have made homemade chicken soup. My husband prefers my corn chowder if I am going to make soup. It surprises me, as he doesn't like to eat different things. He is more of a meat and potato person. It is very easy and the whole family likes it.

Hi Thoroughrob. My husband is one that loves the taste of new and exciting things. And boy can he cook. I thank God he loves to cook and is great at it. I on the other hand don't care much for cooking. If he wasn't around I would just throw a sandwich together and it would be fine with me.

I make homemade soup - i tend to stick to things like Homemade chicken noodle soup and make the noodles...or beef barley soup or turkey barley or chicken barley. I find them much tastier and more filling than canned soups.
