Hello my fellow MyLotters Some people have finished thier studies, but yet decided to start studying again. Maybe this have various reasons, a desire for more knowledge, troubles finding a job with the current education or many other reasons. Have you decided to study again? What have you decided to study and why? I have an AP degree in Marketing Management and Economics, but i got troubles finding a job, especially because im living in the Netherlands but does not speak fluently Dutch. So currently im studying the Dutch language at the University in hope to improve my CV and find a job.

Well, I'm Italian, graduate in Chinese Languace and Culture 5 years ago. After my dregree I tried to look for a job but all I could find was being a secretary that sometimes would have had to speak Chinese. I wanted to be a translator or a teacher, so I went to the University again and started a Technical Translation DoctorateDegree, and I found it sooooo boring. After one year in Italy they opened a school for teachers of Chinese Language. So I studied two more years and now I could be a teacher in schools. Unfortunately, Italy has just changed the way for enrolling teachers, so the school I attended is no use now. I really like furthening my education and all, but if I had looked for a real job before starting University, I would be working by now I think...

Hello XiaoLin Maybe it would have been different if you looked for a real job before starting university. I find it smart to investiage the studies and if there is a need in those areas, in other words how big are the job posibilities? I can imagine there is companies in Italy that trades with China, there must be some sort of work you could realte to your studies. Or maybe going to china working for the Italian consulate?

I did investigate on which kind of work I could do, but either you have a degree in Aeconomics AND you can speak Cinese (in that case they could easily offer a good position if you go to China), or you will be a secretary that , sometimes, could happen to have to speak Chinese... As for the consulate... this is what our teachers told us the very first day at the University: "There's ONE Italy and ONE China. How many embassy or consulate work do you think you can find?". So nice of them, isn't it? Thanks for commenting

I am over 40 now and working. But there are some positions in our office that is to be vacated or still have to be created which are higher than my current position. I need to have a degree or a higher college education to be able to apply and possibly get one of those incoming positions. But so far, I don't think I can start to go back to school. I don't think my income will permit me to pay the tuition fees.

Ahh then maybe the government is interested in improving your areas of expertise, that would be worth a thought. But you should only consider it if you feel comfortable going back to school i believe, but most important follow your best intuition...

I am going to enrol in an admin course this year which is all done online, very important to have something flexible with 3 children at home. Although I won't be working for about 2 years at least once our youngest is old enough for full time care it is something exciting to do & will take4 me away from being a mum for a while & it will help my family out soon enough with better prospects so very worth it. I am quite excited about it :)

That sounds great, studying and beeing a mum at the same time is though hard work, but with all these online opportunities it is almost stupid not to grab the chance :) So you would basically have to study when your youngest are sleeping?

I also want to study again to take master degree, probably MBA overseas. To prepare this, right now I save my salary as much as I could and prepare to take GMAT and TOEFL. Actually I have quite good job right now, with salary above the average for a person who just graduate 2 years ago, but having a master degree is my dream for my achievement. I also eyeing scholarship to go to European and American universities, hope I can get it :)

Sometimes it can be a benefit to have knowledge in the area of where you want to start up a company, aswell as write down a business plan. The knowledge can be based through hobbies, education or general knowledge, because it makes it easier for you to get the company up running :)

Hi Downwindz, The most important part of life is to gather as much knowledge as you can and pass that on to your next generation so that they can start from where you left.So the volume of your knowledge marks the position of your child from where they are going to begin the rally.Hence, study is all welcome and it always opens door to a new untried territory.

Hello yoursjannat Ofcause life is about gathering knowledge but yet some knowledge might not be useful in the longer run, and knowledge can also be gained without having to study full time.
• India

To gather knowledge you need vision which comes through the dimension you spread by studying full time.Well,it's all about leaving the routine of that a job offers, which put me to quit.I want to do something creative like writing thoughtfully and honest in mylot for example.I'm now looking for pursuing phd in robotics.

Im considering going back to university this year. I was there in 2001 but had to leave due to ill health. Im not sure about the financial side so this may stop me from being able to go. I need to make an appointment with the university actually to see about it all.

Hello Donna I wish you the best luck in getting back into your studies, and unfortuately in some countries finances sets a stop for the dream education :/ In that sense im very pleased to be from Denmark. The government covers most education costs besides for the equipment you need; calculator, books, paper, laptop, pencils etc.

i am a student which want to go aborad to keeping study, but in my point of view, i think you need not to keep studying, if considered that you have so great degree, and a learning experience. i think in our life, the experiences as well as opportunities is more important compare with studying. but it doesn't mean we might not to persuit more knowledge, in society we need study all time to catch up the society, if we have deficient knowledge which can not suppor us to standing in the world, we will be weed out

Hello Jenny Some of your points of view i do agree about, mainly the fact that you can also end up studying to much, and what purpose would that have? Eternity students so called in my area are somehow a bit frown uppon, mainly because they just study to avoid working. My case is that i would love to get a job but the opportinities are not many for me because of the situation that employers here seems to want newly educated people with 25 years of experience, now it does not make sence but it seems to be the reality.

I was planning to study again I wasn't graduated yet in college and I really like to go back to school and study. I want to finished a degree and I think that's the good thing I could give to my parents despite of all they've done to me...

That sounds like a good way of makeing your parents happy, but ofcause you need to want to for yourself to finish up college and not because they would be happy :) If you dont like your studies then the purpose seems to be in vain.

mmm... well i'm actually not finishing my study yet. i'm now still a student in one of the university in Jordan. but i just want to give my opinion, currently i've been motivated by one person who now became an experience economist. he had been asked by the same question and he said - we better go for a job rather than further our study because we need the experiences and we need to open our mind to the real world... by the way.. Experience is a good teacher right?!

Experience seems to be a good teacher indeed, we mainly learn from our mistakes. I know not to put your hand on a hot stove because it will hurt and therefore you dont do it again.
