Has anyone tried?...

I've had loose skin on my tummy since my first child was born. Of course it got a little bit worse with each pregnancy. Now that I've lost over 60 pounds it's down right awful! It used to just be my lower tummy that appeared loose, now my entire stomach, from rib cage to pelvic bone looks loose, wrinkly, and is puffier than it should be due to the loose skin. Gross!! Over the years I've tried lots of different kinds of creams hoping it would help some, but of course none of them ever have. I know my only option is probably surgery to remove the skin... but that's expensive and painful! I'd like to explore every option, leaving surgery as a last resort. I know they make lots of different facial creams for wrinkles and puffiness and such. I'm wondering if any of these facial creams would help the appearance of my tummy. I'm sure it would get expensive because facial creams usually come in small containers that would not really be enough to cover my whole tummy... but if I'm going to explore every option, this would be one of them. Have you ever tried a facial cream on a part of the body other than the face? Can you recommend any that might work better than the others? One that offers lasting results.

It's funny, I was having an e-mail convo with Cynthiann a while back, and she tells me that, of all things, preparation H works to smooth out wrinkles. No kidding...

I suppose if I get desperate enough I could try that out on my tummy. I tried it under my eyes once to reduce the puffiness there.. but didn't do it long enough to see results.

Wouldn't that cause eye irritation? all the money people spend on creams and lotions for wrinkles and something that isn't even for wrinkles works? Wow..does the generic brands work?

It did not hurt my eyes, but I didn't get it close enough... just the lower lid puffy area. I'm sure the generic brand will work just as well, as long as it's the same medication, but it's one of those temporary treatments. Once you stop using it the puffiness will come back.

If you happen to be young, (which you are)have the right genes, have thick skin which is NOT sun/UV damaged and are a non-smoker, you MAY get SOME tightening of the skin. I've read a bit on this as I am having the same issues..Although you are losing weight much faster...9 pounds in 2 1/2 months for me. In general most of the articles say once the elasticity is lost..that's it. Sucks I know. How I wish there was a magic bottle of tummy youth being created. I will let you know if I find anything. Since I have started selling AVON I have tried their stretch mark creams. One of which I like. But nothing really for firming. SO I guess I will use what ever profits I can eek out and start saving for a mommy tuck.

I've had this loose skin issue since my first child was born.. and I was 17 at that time. Obviously I just don't have the genes that allow my skin to bounce back. So long as I can get to my goal weight within the next few months, and maintain that weight.. next year's income taxes will be going towards the tummy tuck. I'd also like the chest lift as well, but probably won't do both at once... we'll see.

I know how that is, happened to me when I lost alot of weight..I used the Jergen's firming lotion though and a ab cruncher. Although it is basically a myth that alot of creams and lotions don't actually work as they say. Some make our skin feel tighter and firmer but soon as it's washed or sweated off it's another story..some say they take weeks up to 8 to really see an improvement and then it has to be with continued use. I used to sell Avon..some raved about the tummy tuck lotion they had..but I never used it myself and alot of the other products they said worked but again never tried them. Couldn't afford them really but I did use Jergens it made it feel tighter, firmer but I didn't continue to use it beyond one bottle.

I saw that Avon stuff. There was a tummy lotion and a "chest" lotion. I believe it was the chest lotion that said that once you discontinue the use of it, your skin will go back to the way it was before using the lotion. That's why I never bothered trying that stuff.

Speaking as a Yogi with 40 years experience, I'm wondering about the muscles that are under that loose skin. If you can lie down, stretched out on your back,on the floor, and sit up with no hand help, with your feet never leaving the floor, your abdominal muscles are in good shape. When the muscles are tight, the skin covering them is tight also. Most women never get their abdominal muscles back, after the birth of their first child, so its no wonder they have loose tummies! Join a Yoga class! it will take time, but Yoga will do more for your loose skin than all the creams in the world!

My muscles are in great shape... it's the skin. I work out daily, so it has nothing to do with my physical body... just the skin which has been stretched beyond repair from 4 pregancies and weighing over 200 pounds for 8 years.

Kat, I know this isn't what you want to hear, but I don't think that there is any kind of cosmetic product that is available that is really going to help with loose skin like you're talking about. I've got plenty of loose skin myself, and yes it does disgust me. I've been able to tighten it up quite a bit with core work, but I still also acknowledge the fact that I will have to have a tummy tuck after I've reached my goal weight.

Deep down I already know that.. but you know it's still worth trying a few things to see if it helps. My core muslces are in great shape.. as you know I go to the gym daily and have been doing so for 4 months. I take 2 abs classes a week, plus a pilates class which is mostly abs. I've got almost a year before I'll be able to afford my tummy tuck, so still some time to consider my options.

Have you tried Bio Oil? Other than that I think you are looking at surgery as your only option. To be honest I don't think any creams or lotions are going to give you the tummy you want as most of the creams on the market only offer a temporary lift to the face anyway. If you consider just how much money it could potentially cost you in trying all of these creams, I think you should save for the surgery instead.

Yes I've used Bio Oil. Anything on the market for skin firming has been tried, aside from face creams which I just went out and got and will begin trying tonight. As I said in the post, surgery will be a last resort. $20 every so often for some cream hardly compairs to the $5,000 surgery will cost.

Hello, I thought it is a good thing for pregnant woman right? each one of us always wish to loose weight and especially tummy. I have two children but my stomach is absolutely alright... sink is OK, and it is not too big like others. If you lost a lot of weight cuz you were over weight during pregnancy then your skin would left like that but it will be alright... just use some cloth that cover it and u will be alright.

The way it looks bothers me, so I'm doing what I can to make it look better.

I used to buy Nivea q10 firming lotion and it was never that expensive but, it really felt like it was working. Of course I am not sure how well it will work on loose skin but, it may be wothr a try like you say before resorting to surgery!! Plus if nothing else it wil make the rest of your body feel and smell amazing! : )

Sounds like you need to tone your stomach. My advice is to go to a gym or get a personal trainer to help you out with getting your stomach back to normal and getting back to shape! It won't be as expensive or as painful as surgery. If you can't see any other options then you could always get a doctor's advice. Good luck! :)

I do go to the gym, everyday. That's how I've lost 60 pounds. It's not a toning issue. All the sit ups in the world cannot tone loose skin. The muscles underneath are great, and strong. The skin has lost it's elasticity.

Hello, Katsmeow.:-) I already given 3 births and lucky me I don't have that kind of problem. I always watched my diet when I got pregnant to not to become overweight or fat. I also do exercises such as bench press to tighten the stomach part and it works for me. However, there are excess flabby skin that we can't deny plus the fact that there are stretch marks, too. I am using dove or nivea firming cream but I am not sure if it will work the way it has used to my skin once I gave birth to my fourth child. If you were overweight during your pregnancy, then, the only possible option that you have is liposuction... I can't think of anything else... I hope there is other way... Goodluck.:-)

Any forms of creams is not effective for loose skins because of pregnancy. The only way to have tighter skin again is by surgery which is very expensive. But other than that, there are no effective way.

Hi katemeow1231, How do you feel about having surgery to remove the loose skin (apart from the expense and pain of course). I know it seems a little dramatic, but a cosmetic procedure will take it away for good. To be honest I don't think any creams will help you to create the tummy you want, but if you think about how much money you could potentially spend on creams and lotions, surgery may be the best option.
