Years had passed yet, we, Filipinos were still under the impact of then American regime which they thought was a blessing. Call me an activitist, I am against the way America silently controlling our country from politics to economy, from a economy to a totally colonized country. But, America, in inspites of all the opportunity to totally ruled our country,I am wondering why you had just gave us an option to be your next state. What's the possibility of being the next state of US of the Philippines?

LIENROSE, I am going to fill you on on a little secret about America. 99.9% of the time American citizens do NOT agree with what our government does. When we think they have a good idea going on they usually screw it up somehow. America is also not a great place to live now days either. I mean look at our president. He has only been in office a little over a year and has proved to be nothing more than a liar and a hypocrit. Our country is falling apart more and more everyday. You may think America is controlling your country but the truth is...America is losing control of itself.

So Hatley, you agree with socialism? That is what our wonderful president is making America.

he is so wrong its pathetic, but yet another obama basher,we are stil a wonderful country and a lot of us do not agree with Beth at all.we all have a right to our own opinions so I respect hers but do not agree with it at all. My outlook, and those of a lot of other Americans is that Bush left a mess and its going to take the new President a lot of time to put it right. we are not losing control of ourselves nor do we want to control your country either.

The possibility of offering statehood....probably near zero. However, there's nothing saying your nation couldn't petition for statehood. It's a series of tough requiremnents but if it's genuinely something the people in your nation want....well, go for it. I don't know that most in your country would want this though, I think most of your compatriots are perfectly happy living in a soviergn nation. Serious question So, how is it we are "controlling" your economy? I know a lot of U.S. comanies locate to the philipines, but how is my nation or government "controlling" your economy or your politics?

I'm also interested in how America is "controlling" your country. I'd be more than happy to step away/stop controlling/etc. We need to stop spending money, anyway, and we could start by not spending money in the Philippines.

lienrose well I am an American and with our economy the way it is maybe we should just turn a cold shoulder to you poor suffering from our influence and not help you out at all, I thought we were doing good for people devasted by your bad weather but since you dislike us so, why dont we just forget to pour money into your cou ntry and help our own country instead. you know there are a lot of americans on mylot and we do not think we are controlling your country at all. if giving aid means that to you ,well shucks maybe we should stop; help;ing all who have catastrophes and start helping our own people. I myself would not want the state of pHillipines if that is how you think of us on a silver tray.

It has taken you years to cut your ties with America. Why in the world would you want to hitch your wagon to a sinking ship.
