What does it take to stop terrorists?

HOLLISTER, Calif. — The man who opened fire in front of the Pentagon had a history of mental illness and had become so erratic that his parents reached out to local authorities weeks ago and warned them that their son was unstable and might have a gun, authorities said Friday. Who do you have to sleep with to stop this crap?

Kind of reminds you when our former president received a report about terrorist planning on using planes as a weapon against us, and he decided that tax cuts were much more important than national security.

Whoever that man is I think he must read the bible for a while to get some inspiration to change his ways. If the man had a history of being abused as a child, that might have provoked him to go wild as life for him had not been fair. Frankly, wildness is a fire that needs to be extinguished but when women are the fire extinguishers, they arent effective if they are merely hard to get fools who does not have any mercy for depriving the man of love - which ends wildness once and for all.

The point is, his parents warned authorities and yet again, nothing was done.

Nah, its not much to be worried about I think cuz once a man had done his wild actions he's already empty of it. It will take a long time for him to be wild again.

Sure the parents warned the authorities but that was not the move they should have made. If a person has a mental illness and is in danger of endangering themselves or others the right place to go is to court and have them sectioned and put into a hospital which locks them down for 30 days. Hopefully getting them meds that they need or checking the meds they are on. How many calls do you think they get in a given day that a person threatened or said something which you believe to make them unstable. We do not have enough law enforcement to go and hunt down someone that may be dangerous. Unless caught in the act what is law enforment suppose to do.

I'm with spalli on this one...there is a difference between a terrorist and someone who is just mentaly ill. I get a little nearvous when ever I hear about how we need to protect ourselves a little more from terrorism. While it is a problem, we cannot forget it is just as important, if not more so, to protect ourselves from too much protection.

I understand, and where do you draw the line? It just seems that they look at the average citizen but the whackos they leave alone.

Two things should have happened that didn't. The police should have investigated the report immediately and the parents should have gotten a psychiatric hold placed on their son for his own protection and so that he could be evaluated. There's a difference between a terrorist and someone who is mentally...at least in my opinion there is.

I understand and your right. A lot of parents are afraid of their kids and trying to commit. But I also think the authorities dropped the ball.. again.

These are some situations that make me imagine myself having some sort of superpowers so that I can hunt all these terrorists down and kill all of them! But then, I'm not from Marvel Comics and all I can do is pray.
