Since leaving Liverpool, Micheal Owen spend most of his time in the surgery table then football field, meet more doctors then football fans. Even though his predatory instinct does not went to as bad as his leg, his chance to play again this season is very small or nothing at all. He has the most outstanding goal scoring record for England (40 goals in 89 games), his quest for the 2010 World Cup disappear when he got his latest injury during Carling Cup final against Aston Villa last Sunday. His last England duty is against France (March 2008) and end up at the losing team. Even though he knew that his chance to be selected for England team is very slim, he still fight for it until last Sunday. But he need to think about his vocation location rather then South Africa at the end of this season. How do you think about this? Can Owen come back next season or start to think about retirement?

I think Owen didn't stand a chance to be selected for the World Cup Tournament. He's not even playing on a regular basis for Man Utd. When he played, Owen showed he still has some skills that make him useful for the team, so I don't think he should consider retiring. I think we'll see him at Man Utd for at least the next season.

Hi stvasile, Yes, he would not participate in the World Cup with England squad. He is not match fit and more so, Capello does not trust him to deliver. It is pity for him because of his record with England team. I do not know Owen contract with Manchester United. Is it one year or two years contract he sign with Manchester United. He will be there again if he sign for 2 years, no matter how bad his condition. But I am not sure if Ferguson will keep him especially if he can not get fit before the next season started. Retirement might not in Owen mind at this moment but I think he should consider playing at the less competitive league else where.

I think he should look for another club that can offer him first team opportunity. If he stays in Man United, I don't see that he will play much and he will eventually retire after next season.

Hi stormragetz, I think Owen should look into it. I suggest he went to US just like David Backham did. He still has the skills but can not handle the tough tackles like in English premier league. He should look at the less competitive league to play. Or if he want, he can get a beg of money to play at East Asia, just like most of the will be retired star.

I think he should start considering retirement. By time he comes from injury he will be old and he will not be playing good as usual. What a gamble Ferguson.

Hi jozy, Micheal Owen still has what its need to be a good striker. But, unfortunately, his leg can not take it anymore. The more he push it, the worse it become. And I totally agree that Owen should think about his retirement plan. He is not get younger. I think Ferguson is smart enough to see Owen condition. That's why he only offer pay per play contract to Owen and got it for free. But he should think about the treatment cost that Owen need since the account balance for Manchester United is not as good as its suppose to be.
