Where from and where to? Are you happy with your decision? Or, do you wish you were back in your homeland?

i just moved here (US) from philippines, still being homesicked from time to time. the adjustments almost drove me crazy, hehe. it was totally different when i was just here for vacation and tours, something more permanent like this is normally tough. it was hard at first coz it's no joke to be away from one's family and friends, change lifestyle (from being a very busy career person to a homebody waiting for authorization to work), and adapt to a lot of things - environment, culture, etc. i'm just blessed to have a patient and loving husband who sees me thru. (he better, coz he's the reason for all these changes, hehe). well, i've coped and feeling a lot better now :)

wow, that is a big cultural change for you. I was very homesick for a while, even though UK & Australia are very similar I felt very lonely. It wasn't till I went back that I realised Australia was my home now. I wish you all the best in the US and for the future.

Homesick - Migration
No peizli, I did not migrate here to Australia, but was born here many a moon ago. Actually it is funny because people can move from one place to another, and not even from another country to Australia, and they can get homesick. I know that I did when I first left home but it did soon pass, once I found my way around. :)

peizli,i am Australian born and bred but my husband migrated to Aust.in 1964 from Malta. He had no family here and could not speak English so he found it very hard. He was going to stay the 2 years required at that time then go home, but he met me and well here it is 43years later and he is still here. We go back for holidays and at one stage he was thinking of all of us moving over there, but he changed his mind and would not live there now.He has lived in Aust. more than he did in Malta as he was 20years old when he migrated here.
