What makes up you NUMBER: Discussion Started OR Answered?

Hi mylotters I went to the top users page and came this question in my mind.
[b]What do make up your total number here on mylot, is it your started one or answered topics?

I check also my profile now, I have 128 topics so far and 206 answered, that's make up my number here next to my username...
For how many years you achieve that huge digits?
I know there are really mylotters who love to post several topics and there are mylotters also who love to respond; that makes the balance though.
Where do you belong?
I could not tell yet where I belong, it's not really a big difference so far with my started and aswered... but sometimes I love to host a discussion... and sometimes it depends on my mood...

Well most of my posts are the ones which i have answered ,
i dont like starting topics.. well i do start them sometimes but most of the times its just answering the discussions already started.
So i guess i love responding to discussions .. my numbers would be a lot towards the responded side maybe a 80:20 ration or maybe even more...

Well i also think that the reason for my ratio is that evey time i start a discussion i reply to all the posts.

Perhaps that is it... Me, I could not afford to ignore every responses I received... I feel good to follow them everytime even I am little late sometimes...

, for now I am depending on what kind of mood I have... last day I have more than 5 post started... I just like it... now I have no time to answer discussion because I am reading all the responses and enjoying on it... after this, I have to look for new... recent... and friends started... well mine for now maybe 60:40 and account more for answered...

hi! that what really makes our numbers go up is the discussions answered, because when we start a discussion we get only one point to our number and the for the replies in it we don't get more points. and I actually think that no one can post that many discussions, s that the number go up from them. I prefer to answer to other member's discussions, because it is much more interesting :) hope after an year I will be on the first page of the top users :)

I have many friends and I have it set so I get emails when they start a post. I have many interests and I have been here a long , long time. That's how I have been luck enough to respond to 11102 posts.

The Lamb is right, the comments are not included in your counting.
I have a total of 4399 when i start to type this response.
then i have this statistics;
discussions started: 284
discussions answered: 3939
so i could have 176 comments posted.
I also checked the top users page and found out that i am now in the 7th page. still a long way to go to reach page one.

Yes neil, because I really don't have an idea if comments are being counted... thanks to Lamb and to you... but not all comments are counted... I don't know if I and life are right, we thought that comments with a single sentence or something like that and comments which contain only codes and faces are not counted... What do you think neil?

As I check mine now, I have only 346 answered and started discussions all in all, so meaning I have 14 comments counted... well that's not bad...

i guess comments counted are those we post under one response in one topic. and if we respond to the same topic, making it the second post to it, the response will not be counted as response/answer. there could be some questions here that we really have no answer but only the admin can answer.

I have started only a handful of discussions, but I sit here for hours on end replying to them. I find it more rewarding to respond then to start. Mostly because I don't always know what to say when starting one, but I have a lot to say (usually) when responding to a discussion, and feel content in the fact my responance will usually help someone else out.

Hey prime. I am more of a responder than a starter. Sometimes I just run out of interesting topics to start so I just passively look for others' discussions and comment. That way I wouldn't have to think of a topic because my answers will give me cents.

Hi mjcookie... that's great... I am more of a responder too so far as I look into my answered discussions... but yesterday I was in the mood to post several topics...but still like you I love to run trough all the nice topics posted by our co-mylotters...

primeaque86 I checked my profile and my responses far outnumber
the discussions I have made over a two year span. Its always been
easier for me to respond to other's discussions than to make
my own as I want mine to be quality and to be of interest and its
so hard to decide what to write about. I always find so many discussions
that interest me, and find myself responding much more easily than discussing.
