Hi Siliguri, The idea is surely nice, it would be of help to many other people, but at the same time some people may never take the take the opportunity to learn English also.

It means there should be some restrictions...the persons can write only 3 or 4 times in his/her mother tongue in a day...how it is...thanks for the response...have a nice day..

Hi Siliguri, If they implement the system then why have restrictions otherwise it would be better off the way it is, different countries also have english spoken or written in different ways, but somehow all manage it out, some with grammatical mistakes and some our perfect. Anyways good luck

good ideas - applause for a good idea
From my point of view, is a good idea to be implemented a translation system may be a good idea, only then work on Mylot can be equal, and of course there will not talk about who makes mistakes in grammar or not, or who have a higher level of culture or not. And of course, who wants can post in English, that is to be left to improve their English, that is to be optional using a translation system; course will need to choose who post in his native language, should use literary language, not dialect, because there is no translation system for dialects of the world. It will remove and misunderstanding between people speaking different languages and who often arguing just because I do not understand a phrase or another, taken as an insult, when in fact it is not. I think I can say for the first time, that this is a brilliant idea may in the future could be taken into consideration, then only will see who is gifted in writing, who have general culture, that through our personal translation, losing the essence of a discussion. bravo!!

That's all right...means only the persons who are literate are welcome..and the persons who are deprived from good education and unable to write good english are not welcome...

I think this idea is not good, because there are a lot of languages and it would be a real mess in mylot. I write posts to some topics because their titles attract me and if I see 100 titles in 100 different languages I won't waste time to translate every title. And you should know that if you wanna read and write in specific language you have to install fonts for those different languages - if you don't have such you won't have the ability to read and write in that languages

ya it will be easy for us to write in my own language but their is a difficulty that people in mylot are from different places and so it wont be understood by all and it wont be a mylot at all . its easily understood by many when we write in english and many can respond and comment . i dont think it will be good if we use it in our local language

Hello Siliguri: I am sure Mylotters from around the world are more comfortable writing in their own native language. However, I am not sure there is a software advanced enough to accomodate the many different languages and dialects for everyone. So much is lost in translation when you use software, I don't think it would have the same meaning. Think about it. If you add translation software, you defeat the idea that Mylot is a place where you can practice and improve your English without fear of being critized. We are all here to help each other. Because we come from different parts of the world, each of us brings something new to the table and it makes life here on Mylot much more interesting. Happy mylotting.

Actually, MyLot is a site based in the United States where English is still the primary language. If ppl from other countries are having that hard of a time on the site, why not start their own version of the site in their own country. I'm sure as an American, I wouldn't care if another country had a site simular to MyLot in their own language. Now I'll climb on my soapbox for a moment, personally I'm tired of having to push 1 for English, muddle through the labels on food with 10 other languages on it and try to decipher what someone is trying to say. If ppl from other countries want to join an English speaking site, learn English. It's really simple. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

not a practical suggestion...the number of vernacular languages surpass all our estimations. If mother tongue is incorporated, there definitely would be a lot of confusions.

It's an interesting idea. But i don't think it reasonable. With different languages on mylot, mylot will soon turn to be the second Babel rather than a better place for my lotters.

mylot is a place where we share our views and pointers in life. whether it is correct grammar or what. we can learn english here. so i don't think that having a translator software will be nice. it will be better if we will learn english and practice it here. we can connect people by heart and words. english is not my mother language, but i am trying my best to learn and practice it here. as long as my friends understand my views, it is good enough for me.

yes there are a lot of unintelligible post from people is not engple who's first is not english and that drives me up the way but automatic translators produce gibbersh with anything other than perfect grammatically and spelt correct typed text. Who writes like that on here.

I think once a time it's interesting for you.. but for other country's people it's very very challenging job to understand different-2 languages.. if mylot allow to write in your own country's mother language.. and for this they will need of learn different-2 languages.. which is very very difficult.. have a nice day and keep mylotting always..

well, i don't think this is a good idea. Firstly, most people want to improve ther English writing skill through mylot. This is really a good platform. Secondly, there is no evidence that we can believe the translate software. This software often brings a lot of mistakes. For today technology, it cannnot translate accurately.

If people write in foreign language on here it would not attract those who can not speak this language. I could not take part in discussions in French for example. I think a basic knowledge of English is enough in order to get by on here. I would prefer someone replied to my posts in broken english rather than in alanguage i would not be bale to understand at all.

i think it is a nice idea. however, i just think that mylot is not the place to implement such idea. such software do exist but i dont think they can translate the language perfectly. sometimes, they even do the translations into an 'ununderstandable-language'. that would be hard i think..
