Is there an anti-depressant that you have taken that others should stay away from?

I take Zoloft, and it works really well for me. About 20 years ago the doctor had me on Amitriptylene. That was one of the old-fashioned antidepressants. Once I took it it zapped me out for about 10 hours. It made me very groggy the next day, and I had chronic dry mouth and excessive sweating. When I finally took myself off of it, I went through major withdrawal. Don't let anyone give you that stuff!

Thank you for the words of advice. My physician has prescribed zoloft for me but none of my friends take it. Most of them use Paxil.
