Did you eat a lot of chocolates when you were still a child?

I love chocolates! I love it no matter what kind it is. When I was young, chocolates were expensive because we dont have a lot of money and the only time that we can eat chocolates when I was still young was on your birthday and on Christmas. Maybe chocolates at that time wasnt really very expensive but our resources or my parents money are intended for something else and its not chocolates. I am actually thankful now because even though I dont have a lot of money now, at least I can buy if I want to eat it. Maybe I will not appreciate it this much, if I had the same things before. How about you? Were you able to eat a lot of chocolates when you were still young?

Hey gal, I've got a person who loves chocolates like me. Yes, I used to love chocolates very much when I was kid but they were too expensive for me to get. I'm also thankful to Allah, my Creator that though I don't have a lot of money, at least I can buy chocolates according to my satisfaction because I've got a habit of saving money no matter how much crisis I'm in. Have a nice day.

When I was young, I did eat some chocolate, but my parents always made a limit so we didn't make ourselves sick. However, now that I'm older, I eat a LOT more chocolate than I did as a child. It's like I spoil myself now that I can eat as much as I want! I've come close to making myself sick, though. I'm addicted to chocolate! I have cravings during the day always when I don't have a stash with me - I hate that! I also use it as a stress reliever so that's probably not too good either. I've heard it's good for us because it keeps our arteries clear. So it might be good for the heart - no wonder it's a stress reliever! That's what I've heard so I hope chocolate is good for us because it sure does taste good! Great discussion - thanks for posting!

Well I did not have the chance to eat lots of chocolates when I was young because we were just poor and my parents could not afford to buy chocolates. They would rather just use their money buying the necessities of life rather than on chocolates which we could anyway live without. But certainly I love chocolates so that sometimes I would dream that I have the money to buy it. Well when I grow up and life becomes better I am thankful I now am able to buy as many chocolates as I want. But my wisdom teach me to eat chocolate in moderation. Too much sweets is not healthy so despite my passion for chocolates, I really don't eat much of it.

I understand what you mean. We had the same situation when I was young. My parents also could not afford to buy the chocolates because of other priorities and chocolates were not included in the shopping list. I am also grateful like you to be able to buy chocolates now. I can appreciate it more fully that I am able to buy now. I didnt have regrets for being poor when I was young, now I am not rich but there are resources and I can really tell that life is sweet like chocolates if you have to undergo some hardships for a while and know what it is like to have a better life later on.

Yes. I used to eat a lot and I still do, probably even more now that I have my own money to buy them. I love all kinds of chocolates but I do prefer they have nuts in them. When I was younger my uncle would come home from abroad and has this bag of chocolates from duty free and I feel like its Christmas. I don't think it would be healthy to eat that many chocolate though.I am trying to control myself now that I am not getting any younger.

We are in the same position. I did not born rich. When I was born we are struggling. I can only have chocolates during Christmas because my Uncles and grandparents gave me some. Or if my mother have extra money she will buy the most cheaper chocolate and I am happy whenever I received and eat chocolate. For me those who can buy and eat chocolate everyday are only the rich one. Chocolates is a comfort food. I can buy chocolates now since I already have a job and I can afford it but I am not into it now. But when someone gave me I do not resist it, I accept. They say that when you are young and you are into eating chocolate as everyday, sweets can affect your teeth so that is still not advisable. And toddlers and young one will always choose chocolate against healthy food which is improper. So I guess not all of the children from rich family eats chocolate as always hahahahahaha. You know it doesn’t matter to look at the past as today, our present day chocolates are affordable.

I also had chocolates for Christmas. At that time my mom bought it from a store. I could still remember one time, it was a day before Christmas eve and my mom and dad was arguing about what we are going to have for Christmas. We didnt have a lot at that time but we were happy we ate chocolates.

I do not even know there were chocolates until I buy it myself. When I was young, chocolates were "banned" in my family. Even when I was offered one, I thought it was a sweet because I have never been told it was a chocolate. As a form of rebellion, I eat a lot of chocolates when I start working.

"banned" because we cannot afford it. Parents then know kids very well. Whatever cannot afford, best not to let the child get a taste of it in case the child insists on having chocolates. lol.

Why was it banned? Were there health conditions that you need to be aware of and consider that's why you have to ban it? I jsut cant imagine being a child now knowing what chocolate is. It is so....sad. I understand if you can tell for yourself that you are in rebellion when you had your job because you didnt have to ask from your parents some money to buy the chocolates. You are spending your own money now so that its okay and your parents cant do anything about it.

Yeah I was, because chocolate is cheap where I grew up. But I didn't like chocolates then as much as I do now (as a grown-up). I'm 24 now and I LOVVVEEEE chocolates. I like the dark bittersweet ones the best. Second would be the traditional typical milk chocolate and my last choice would be the white chocolate one. I appreciate them all, except for a few ones and they're really few. I love them all from M&M's to Hershey's (with or without the almonds) and Cadbury's yum yum. I'm aware though that chocolates cause rapid gain weight if eaten much everyday so I stay away from them every now and then when I can help it, and limit my consumption when I eat.

Where did you grow up? You were one lucky kid because chocolates in your country were cheap. When I was young, they were really expensive here now, now that I am older they are still expensive. I dont like the dark ones, I feel like I'm not eating chocolates at all if I eat that. My favorite would be m and m's, I like looking at the colors, they are really colorful. Taste is even better. A lot of people are actually saying that chocolates will really make you fat but I dont wanna stop eating it. I just wanna eat it and done have to worry about gaining weight. Maybe its okay to eat chocolates as long as I am also going to eat healthy food like fruits and vegetables.

I love chocolates too! My auncle is working abroad and when he sends some stuffs to his family, my auntie always give us shares of chocolates.... Guess we are lucky somehow. I really love chocolates and I am not that conscious, I don't mind if I eat lots... Chocolates are my weakness. My mom too! Glad I am not fat! I have to agree, chocolates are expensive, I buy chocolates only when I have excess budget. That is why I really appreciate when somebody is giving me chocolates!

That is one of the advantages when you have relatives working abroad because when they come home, they all always bring chocolates especially with the fact that they know that chocolates, especially the imported ones are expensive. Good thing you are not fat. Just be careful maybe its not taking effect yet right now but I hope it wont. I was also very thin when I was younger, but I am getting rounder and rounder each day.

yha right and I am aware of that too... I think it has something to do with our metabolism, it somehow slows down as we aged... Thanks for the reminder p3ks626. And to add on, those imported chocolates are somehow more appreciable (is it a colonial mentally??? hahahaha! ) I guess it is because we get to eat them seldom compared to those local chocolates... that is why we enjoyed it more.

Chocolate - My latest craze is for cadbury bournville a dark chocolates with roasted almonds
Chocolates were a rare commodity during my young days but I am making up for it now. I have travelled far and wide and most of my buying in any country is chocolates. Back home I will spend on this temptation as that is my favourite. My latest craze is for Cadbury Bournville! It is a dark chocolate with roasted almonds and is available in India.

Wow! That sounds really good. Maybe I would have to change my mind about dark chocolates after hearing that. I also wanted to taste the different chocolates that they have in other countries. I love the imported chocolates because its very smooth when you eat it. Local ones we have here in the country are rough. Its like eating sugary sand that doesnt melt in your mouth.

I loved chocolates when I was young. Now that I'm old, I love chocolates just as much. My salivary glands get activated everytime I see tv commercials on any kind of chocolate. However, my parents were not into buying chocolates except on special occasions. Now, I still have meager resources and my budget is mainly for taking care of bills and basic needs. When I win the lottery, I'll get a truckload, bwahahaha. Have a lovely chocolaty day, p3ks...

It was also a difficult time for us to eat something like chocolates when we were still young. My dad had a job but I guess his income was just enough for the needs of the family and buying something like a candy bar seems like impossible most of the time.

I didn't really got to eat a lot of chocolates when I was a kid. My dad never really says yes when we ask him to buy chocolates on grocery. Now, I understand why he didn't do it, it's just that it's really not part of the budget, and we have many expenses back then cause I had 3 other siblings and we were all going to private schools. When I got in college though, it was then that I really started loving chocolates, I usually buy a pack from my allowance and eat it for a week, and then I'll buy another one. Hahaha. I was crazy for chocolates back then, but not too crazy now because of the pounds that I gained during college. LOL. Now I still love eating chocolates, but I think twice before putting it into my mouth. I guess you could say I'm more health conscious now. Hehehe.

I think you are. I think I am too but not that conscious. I am not very fat but my tummy is round. I an satisfied with how I look physically but I need to do something with my stomach. I do exercises now which I didnt do, it was alarming for me to see myself in the mirror gaining weight and the roundness of my stomach being added day by day. I still eat chocolates now, I dont want to stop eating it just because I dont wanna gain weight. I think there's another way like for example if I eat chocolates now, then I should more vegetables later on. Eat food with fibers so it will help in cleansing the gastrointestinal tract.

I liked jelly sweets too but not as much as I liked chocolates. I love eating these so called every-flavor-beans that they have at the mall. I think they got the idea from harry potter. They sounds sweet an taste better too but I will always have chocolates as number one in my list.

I love chocolates. I ate a lot of it when I was a kid and I still do. I would sometimes save a whole week's allowance and then spend it all on chocolates at the end of the week.

Saving was also one of the most important things I learned from my mother. When I was in high school I also saved money but its not for the chocolates, its for the things that I need in school like socks, handkerchiefs, cologne or some baby powder. I only got to eat lots and lots of chocolates when I was in college because my allowance increased. I didnt have to return the excess to my mother because she didnt know there was. I am a huge fan of chocolates and I will always be.

Chocolates that melts in your mouth are the best. Some chocolates melt when you hold them with your hands but I think that's normal for some chocolates because if what they are made of. I dont know how to make chocolates but I think they put some sort of oil in it. I dont know what kind of oil or if there's really oil in it. Anyway, chocolates with or without oil I still love them.
