Maybe one of the worst things about being a student is studying. But we dont have a choice because we are students and if we dont study then we would not pass. But the worst part of studying for me is memorizing formulas. I didnt like memorizing them because they are too many and I dont get to remember during the test. I hated the fact that I know but I just forgot. What was the worst thing about studying in your part? How did you cope with it?

Yeah, it's the real fact that student must study to pass everything. I don't like memorizing too during my student days. My strategy is keep on reading and reading repeatedly; I wrote/make bold formulas in any design and post anywhere I stay longer. I remember those days that my bedroom decorated with formulas up to comfort room. But once it printed out in my mind it didn't erased anymore.

Yeah, even me when I looked back those memories I can't imagine then, but I find & did the best strategies which were effective for me who is a working student maintaining grades for my tuition fee free. And I got it.

I could just imagine how you room looked liked with all those formulas written on papers and posted on the wall. I think your room must have looked like a a factory of paper. haha! But that is a good way to memorize it. Because you try to remember by writing it down many times. As you said, one it was printed in your mind its already there and it cant be erased anymore. I just think its very amazing for some people to have an Eidetic memory. Its amazing how their brain works.

hahaha! Same here. I also hated studying history. I also didnt want to memorize dates and events. I didnt want to know all about those people in history. I always say that there's no need for me to know them because they dont know me. haha! Its not the same case for me though when it comes to writing. I love to write reports as long as I have to do it alone. I didnt like waiting for my classmates to contribute something for the report. I didnt wanna delay anything when it comes to reports. Though I can say that my right ups were not really very good, I still wanted to do it alone to save more time.

Ahhh! Studying is tiresome! So many words to memorize, so many projects to do, so many readings to make, so many words to write, so many assignments to type. Indeed being a student could be a torture. I can't understand why students should be given such a hard time just to learn. When they graduated and work later, not all things they learned at school are not even needed in their jobs. I think the educational system has to be simplified.

Its funny how you describe studying that way because it is actually true. There are so many demands being a student. You got a point when you said that there are a lot of things that you did at school that are not even helpful when you already have a job. I agree with you that the curriculum of the educational system should be revised. Education should focus more on the things that will help you in life. And what's even worst for some graduates, they are unemployed after they graduate. This is the reality. There are only a few who would end up having a good job later on in the future.

Maybe spending on time with family or things you like to do. I don't study often but sometimes I have plans before a test. But it's crucial for your education for life

Are you required to so that while you are studying? I mean, spend more time with loved ones than spend time studying? What do you mean by that? You are still studying and you have your own family already? If that's the case then you should balance your time to meet both ends. I think its hard because I am also in the same situation right now but remember that your family is there to help you, inspire you and even help you with some of your homework. Most of the time, family is still the number one priority other than other things.

My worst thing in studying is when i fall asleep. hehe I am not into reading books that i'm not interested with. But since i don't have a choice, i might as well read it. I know education plays a big role in the future. Its the only treasure no one can steal from you. So i will study from now on..

Good to hear that. Your family is going to be so proud of you. They are now but as you continue to push yourself to the limit when it comes to your studies then you will be taken to heights. It will be for your own good and for the good of your family. If you fall asleep, take time to sleep first then study later. Meet both ends on the things that you need to do. Its going to be hard at first but you can always try. Later on when you are used to it already, you might find it fun as well.

Studying takes a lot of time to be good in school... errr... this makes me pissed off about school or lets just say studying....But we can never deny the fact that it's worth it all at the end... It's us who benefits from doing it and not uy other people...

You got a point there. It will all be worth it in the end even if we are experiencing a lot of hardships when I we are still in school. It is part of life. How will we appreciate our success when we didnt have to experience some hardships. Hardships will always be a part of success. That's why they call it success stories because people who became successful have to undergo a lot of things that will make you push harder. Pushing harder will make you do your best and motivate yourself to do even harder to get what you wanted.

I guess the worst part of studying for me is trying to figure out what is on the test. There would be 4 or 5 chapters worth of material I need to memorize for a test and it would drive me crazy trying to decide which part of the material is more important and what I should spend more time on. Part of being a student I guess.

We should blame the teachers. I think when teachers have to give pointers and coverage for an examination it has to be something that will help and not confuse the students. I find it very confusing when my teacher would say or give some pointers that only says the type of exams that they give. I dont know if I am guilty about that because I am a teacher by profession and I experienced teaching university students. I was not friendly to them but I tried to help them in giving some pointers that will give them the idea on what to study.

I think the worst thing is you go to school but you don't know why you have to do that or you are objecting to do so. Some those who are really lacking passion to study or learn is also bad.

There are a lot of people who doesnt know why they have to study. I think its already a stereotype that people always tell us to study hard to be able to get a good job in the future. But there are actually a lot of people in our time who are filthy rich but they didnt have to go to school. The book entitled "rich dad poor dad", is I think very educational especially for students who doesnt have a lot of interest in going to school. Do you know that book? I recommend you read it.

Same here. I guess the worst thing would be having to go over and memorize each and every single studying material you have. No one knows what will appear on the exams so you really have to cover everything and get dissappointed when the exam comes and the part you barely studied was the one which had the highest coverage. :(

No one knows but the teacher. I hated it when teachers give pointers to their exams but just give us the type of exam that she will be giving. I dont call it pointers at all when they would say that. They are pointers that never make a point. Pointers are suppose to help the students have some points. Its suppose to be the lessons they are suppose to study so it wont be disappointing to them. I am a teacher now and I never do that to my students.

I remember when I used to study by the traditional methods of studying. It was an absolute nightmare to study for many reasons. That scary realization that there is just so much that I have forgotten for whatever reason. The fact that I seem like I have to memorize a lot of things, that I might forget by the time I close the book for all I know. Never mind the fact that there was always at least once per school year, having the misfortune of having five tests in one day and that could be a problem. By the end of test number three, my brain had been reduced to Salsa and that was if I was lucky. I do agree that formulas are an absolute pain to study. Terms as well can be a bit tricky, as well as certain scientific theories that have many parts. Those things always made me bang my head into the wall and make me wonder what I was doing. Those things stayed stuck in my memory a lot of the time, but when I blanked, I blanked in the most spectacular manner. Fortunately, I figured out a way to cope with studying. I absolutely refused to study in the traditional methods for one second longer. What do I mean by the traditional method of studying? Meticulous memorizing of the material over a period of several hours, with a book pretty much glued with the bridge of my nose. I have decided to paying attention to the teachers as they lecture, take notes, read the assigned material, take more notes, was much better than the usual methods of studying. It cut my time down from like about five or six hours of mind numbing studying to pretty much nothing and improved my grades. Of course, I could be in the minority for this working for me.

I think that is the right way to describe studying, it is a nightmare! Paying attention to the teachers are really important but sometimes there are things that the teachers say that they dont give in their exams. And there are a lot of topics included in the exams but not discussed by the teacher. That's why I always have books as a resort to cope with all that was lacking. I took down notes too, my classmates even borrowed my notes and had it photocopied. I hate cramming too because its not effective for me. I'd rather not study than cram because it will be useless.

The worst thing about studying for me is to realize that I'm bound to forget what I learned at that time...There is nothing else I can do to make up for it but keep studying. I will continue studying and then I finally will forget it, but so be it. After all, all we can do the best is to keep trying.

Forgetting something is really a bad situation especially if you needed the information at a certain moment. I think there are so many reasons why we forget them too. Sometimes when we are too nervous, we forget them. Sometimes when you are also anxious about remembering the things that you studied then the tendency is you forget it. It is always good to relax anyway because some of the questions in the test will actually help you remember the things that you are suppose to remember for the test.

Maybe you are really smart or have the advantage when you were studying. Sometimes when we think that we can do better than other people it somewhat motivates us to be good in everything that we do. I think you are just lucky enough to have such interest in studying because you didnt have to worry on how to do it.

for me the worst thing about studying is to studya thing without knowing or understanding about it . in some situations i cant understand certain things and i will memorise those things just because it will be asked in exams and so i have to study it to get mark in the exam. the other thing is i have to study certain things that are not at all neccessary to me . i am a computer science engineering student and i will have to study certain mechanical and electrical engineering subjects . i just cant find the reason for these . those things are not going to help me at all in most of the situations ./

I think understanding something also depends on the interest that you have for the lesson or the subject. When I was in college, the lessons I had in my Sociology class were really easy but I didnt understand them when I read it because I was not interested in it. The main reason why I didnt understand it was because I didnt like my teacher. Sometimes its a teacher factor for students to study their subject and learn about it.

I think nothing is the worst about studying if students study time to time after they attend the lectures. If they bunk lectures then they find little difficult to study.

I never skipped classes when I was in college. I was always present in my classes and take notes and raise questions to the teachers but I still find it hard for me to memorize everything there is about formulas. I dont know if its really about the formulas or I was just stupid. But maybe not because I passes all my subjects with flying colors. There are just some people who are not so into studying but still get good grades. My grades were not very good but they made me pass.

Yes I believe the worst thing about studying is memorizing that is why I did not choose medicine, biology, physical therepy, psychology courses because it is field with that. Although in my course which is Chemistry we memorize formulas, but it is just few compare to the course I had stated. Also the worst thing is meeting the deadlines of project, that requires team work. It is difficult if some of your group are not helping you, because there are types of student like that, who do not care about their grades. But for me the worst thing about studying is, you want to study but you need to stop because your parents can’t push you to continue because they no longer afford the tuition fee and the tuition fee increase bigger every year. Even if there is too many to memorize, we can do it as long as we can continue our study and be able to graduate.

Gee, I thought complicated formulae should be provided in the exam itself....we students will always complain if we are supposed to memorize complicated formulae because we have so many other things to study! But back to the main question, the worst thing I hate about studying is knowing there are so many distractions around you that practically takes your mind of studying. There are so many times when I just wish to put down the giant reference books and just go do something exciting like myLotting , playing sports or watching TV or movies. But I cope with all this by telling myself I could do all that (and perhaps even more) after the exam. Sometimes I still get distracted but most of the time I manage to overcome my desire for entertainment.....just glad that student life is now over!

We always asked our teachers to provide us with the formulas but they never did. I didnt like my physics teacher that much because of that. She said it was a good thing for us because we were majoring in science and there would be a lot of formulas later on. But I found it unrealistic because I wont be using all those formulas for the rest of my life. Good thing for you though because you are able to manage your desire for entertainment. You can also decide for yourself that mylotting can be a form of entertainment. And what's more about it is that we are able to learn and earn from it and at the same time, have fun.

Well the worst part about studying is that there is always something better to do( I have a German Philosophy book book set right beside me and im on mylot) ,something that takes away your attention. Or when you are at home you open the book and you think ooh a cup of tea would be nice. Go spend 5 minutes making it but then while you are down there you realise that there is something on the tv that you just "have to watch" and you will do the study later

You just reminded me on how my desk looked liked when I was in medical school. There were piles of books in different subjects and I hated looking at them that way. I was so sad looking at them because I know I wont be able to finish reading that book for only one night. Maybe that's one of the reasons why we have libraries because we cant be distracted by a lot of things around us. It is still best to study somewhere but not your house. My friend always to go the study room every time she studies because she also avoid being distracted by a lot of things.

This happens all the time not just to you but to most students. Its actually frustrating to think that you studied the book and at that moment you know the answer and the next thing you know, you forgot. I get angry at myself when that happens. That's why I devised some ways for me to remember the things that I studied by relating the contents in the book with the things that I can see in the classroom. I even used my classmates to remember some term and they didnt know about that method I used. It was effective for sometimes, but later on it wasnt anymore.
