Well the time has come that it's definate that my Dad is moving and took this other job....I'm happy for him I really am but I don't think it will really hit til he has moved and is far away from us....I have close friends in the city so I know that the kids and I will be fine....Also he has a fish tank and has said he wants to buy a bigger one but until then he is trusting me to care for his fish while he is moving and until he has the new tank and is settled.....WOW....Have to make room lol..... My son is taking his road test today.....I'm happy for him I really am but I feel like an idiot at the same time my 16 year old son will have his drivers license before me....With my dad moving out of the city I won't have his help if I go for my learners....Thanks goodness another friend has offered to help me....I want to get my finances better and go for my license....I hate depending on people and it will feel so very awkward to depend on my 16 year old to drive me around? Also I hate asking friends to take me around.....ENOUGH is enough lol need to go for my learners and pass it....Then take the road test...... HappyMylotting....

Sorry to hear that your dads moving, I know you two are close and I know you will miss him. Your dad is probably helping Mike get his license and a vehicle in a round about way to help you too I'm sure! That's good that you have friends willing to help you too as well as your Mike ... Im sure he will help mum learn how to drive! Hope everything works out!

Yep, it will be an adjustment for the three of you but I'm sure it will all work out. Plus he's only moving a few hours away not really far so I'm sure he will come to visit when he can. And when Mike gets his license I'm sure he can drive the 3 of you to go see your dad for the weekend or something too!

Heck, driving is a privilege. If he wants to drive, he ought to help you out when you need it. But yeah, why not go for it yourself! He won't always be there...

I do want to go in myself but at my age it costs money that I don't have....I am expecting a gov cheque in April so might use that towards writing the learners and have my son help me with my daughter so I can study....Also try to come up with the money for the road training with instructor.....That is what my plans are but I know once my son gets his license he will help.....

I didn't learn how ro drive at school because I went to a private school BUT the rule in our house was if you showed you could be responsible you got your leaners at 16 and drivers at 18. I showed them I was responsible and they paid for my learners, the driving lessons, and I then paid for the drivers test. My parents didn't ask for insurance money chip ins because they let me use their car, BUT the car always had to be returned clean and with a full tank!

It was so much easier when I was in school. They taught you in school, you got a learner's permit and tortured your parents, you got your license...

Well Sweet I hope you go for it The best thing I did 27 years ago was get my License, I am a very independent Person and getting my License meant I did not have to rely on anyone then or ever since and it is great

Hey, this is a way your son can pay you back for taking such good care of him. It's good that he is getting to take you where you need to go. Plus, you can see how he drives, whether he's reckless or really careful. I am not a parent, but I assume parents worry about teens when they first learn to drive. You'll be able to see first hand what kind of a driver he is. I'm trying to cheer you up a bit because like you, I hate depending on other people for help. Even if they don't mind, I always feel like a burden.

I thank-you for that hun and I do feel better about it and that is a great way of looking at it I like you feel that way too....I hate depending on others but when you need to get a store either pay the extra more it would cost in cab fair and the bus system in my city so stupid we don't have regular transit....HappyMylotting....

hi blueangelIRS I can see how you would have mixed feelings with your dad moving away and your son taking his drivers test, YOu will miss your dad of course, and it may feel strange having your son drive you around. But you will soon get your own drivers license and you will be doing it yourself which will be gratifying I am sure. Also you can go see your dad once he gets settled and you can drive yourself. so it will all be great soon. good luck, God bless.
