What do you think about Carfax?

Do you always check the records of a vehicle you are thinking about buying prior to buying it thru Carfax? Is it worth the money? Have you used it? As I've mentioned hubby is looking at trading down his vehicle and if he's going down I don't want him to end up with a hoopti! KWIM? Can't afford to do lots of repair work but need something reliable.

If you are going to a dealership Carfax is free. I asked about it when I was just looking around at cars. I think it is great it gives you all the recorded info so someone can't lie and hide if the car is always being repaired a lot. I suggest always ask for it. It also lets the dealer know you aren't just going to buy whatever they are saying.

I am doing my car browsing from home as hubby is @ work & I certainly don't want to go looking w/ 3snugglebunnies aka small kids distracting me a great deal from what I want to do. But from I've seen thus far I've only seen one car that had a free carfax record on it the rest you have to pay for the record thru carfax. Wich I think the fee is miniscule compared to what someone could be paying if they buy a lemon.

We've never used carfax on any of our car purchases because the last time we bought a used car Carfax was just in its infancy. That said, if we were right now in the market for another car, then we would check the Carfax on the vehicle that we were interested in because of the fact that there are a lot of majorly damaged cars that are finding their way onto the market. I know that a lot of the dealerships around here offer Carfax reports on the vehicles that they have on their lots.

I think it is a great idea to get the car fax!!! I have not used it but next time I am looking for a car I will use it to know the history of the car.I would suggest to you it is a wonderful idea!!
