I met a guy he was in prison for a gang related killing. He is the nicest guy I have ever met though. We were going through a program to get a job.Everyone told him he is gonna have a hard time getting a job.I think that they should make it easier for ex-cons to get a job after getting out of prison.

Here in india, things are little different, a person who was convicted and jailed is looked upon as a bad person, he/she loses honor from society, very difficult to get a job, in government jobs, one has to give declaration if he/she was convicted by court of law.. Happy posting, cheers. Kalyani

Not all Ex con are really bad about 1/2 of them are said to be ex con because they did'nt have a choice. They had to do somethingin life that is not of choce but of life

The problem is that, when someone has been in prison, they have already shown society that they aren't trustworthy so few employers are going to be willing to trust that person. Your friend may very well be the nicest guy in the world but he has two strikes against him...he was involved in the killing of another person and he spent time in prison where he didn't learn good things.

yes, I think it should be easier.. if one is serious about gettin their life on track and truly wants to start over and do things the right way.. then it isn't fair if they can't get a job. I have never been to prison but I came close..was on probation for a couple of years. I have a couple of charges on my record and it is still pretty hard to explain. I no longer do the things that I used to do and am about to go to college soon. I just hope once I have a degree that they will look at my training and skills. I guess it always helps if you have a trade of some sort. I also took a trade when I was in rehab..for interior finishing and construction so I always put that on my resume also.

Hi first of all of course not all ex-cons are bad people. A lot of the reason why they ended up in jail in the first place is because they were forced into the situation because of their environment. However I somehow disagree with you about making it easier for ex cons to get jobs because honestly probably the majority of ex-cons are dangerous, and don't have such a good work ethic.
