It's depends on your use my friend.. According to my point of view, if u use ur pc normally just for chat and fun then 512 mb is enough.. if u r a developer of differnt computer application then 2 gb RAM is enough ..

Yes, 512MB is enough if you don't multi-task, meaning you don't open a lot of applications at the same time. It's slower also if you play online games or edit videos. It all depends on the applications you use. Another is that if your use the Operating system that is Windows Vista, then 512MB is not enough as Vista requires at least 1GB, but if you use only Windows XP or lower, it is OK.

siliguri, It will depend what Operating System you are using and what you use your computer for. The present OS like Windows XP although has stated that their minimum requirement is 512MB but from experience and many users it just beg to differ. As for the present OS like Windows Vista and 7, I am sure you will see that the minimum requirement is 1GB RAM and that the current motherboards have a capacity for up to 4GB RAM. So, if you have been observant enough, I am sure it says a lot and that we should increase the RAM to above the Operating System's optimum requirements. Take care.

no i think that 512 mb is too low as ram and so if you need an affordable system this ram is really low and so this pc should not be so fast or even many softwares won't work as normal..you should upgrade it...surely..

Hey man, It actually depends on the number of programs/soft-wares installed on a PC. Because when you install a few soft-wares, the amount of workload on RAM is smaller. On the other hand, If you install a number of programs, the RAM has to manage them equally. So, it depends on the number of the programs installed on your PC. Have a nice day.

Yes 512MB of RAM is just good enough but it could depend entirely on the applications and software you need. If you use it just for word processing and internet I think you'd be alright, but if you use it for online gaming I believe you will experience some delays. The higher RAM you have the better. You can have the fastest processor there is but if you don't have enough ram that speed will do you no good.

Hi there, once upon a time, 512 MB RAM was good enough on any computer to run any operating system; however, nowadays, I think at least 1 GB RAM would be needed to run Windows Vista or Windows 7. In addition to the operating system there are other programs that will probably be running so the more RAM, the better! I have a computer with 1 GB RAM, one with 2 GB RAM, and one with 3 GB RAM. The one with 3 GB RAM obviously runs the fastest and smoothest with the most possible programs running at one time without issues. However, my husband is the lucky one. He has 8 GB RAM. That is the most so far that I've ever heard of. His computer runs super fast. So I guess it all depends on what types of programs and what operating system you plan on running. I've found that more is better, but you can always upgrade RAM a little a time, and I don't think it's too expensive. Good luck!

I don't have a clue. I don't know much about computers, so this question is for sure not one that I can answer. I do hope you find the answer to this question though.

see, just as the world changes, you need to change things that make the world change. 512 RAM was history, with Windows Vista and 7 type OS in market, you definately need an upto 2GB RAM for sure, either its your laptop or desktop. Even while using XP on your system i would suggest you to go upto a max of 1 GB that might make you stop getting wait longer for processing. What is RAM, its called RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY ,as per the big guys named it, more RAM means you give your system more energy and resources to work while in RUN TIME. depends on you!.

It's enough ONLY if you do very "basic" tasks like browsing online or making word documents and things like that. Playing games, whether online or off, watching video, listening to music sometimes, using graphics development software like photoshop etc would be way too hard on your pc to accommodate with that little RAM. 512MB might've been more than enough ten yrs ago, but in today's world 1GB is the least you should go after

hi siliguri, IMO 512MB ram isn't enough because maybe at first your pc would look ok and seems to run ok but when time pass by, It would slow down for sure because of the stuff that you may have on your computer. Especially these days most of the programs needs a lot of rams it is better to be a little bit updated on it. :)

It all depends on what you will be doing with your computer. If you will do nothing more than create word docs, or occasionally surf online you will probably be fine. If on the other hand you like to play video games or anything else that is graphically intensive than 512 is no where near enough. My machine right now has 3 GB. If you ever notice that you machine is running slow or not performing tasks quick enough that means you need to upgrade.

The usage of memory ram capacity depends on the applications in our computer. If your more graphics oriented or more computational then it required more more memory capacity say 1 G or 2 G RAM. The speed of the computer also be increased if we use higher memory ram capacity.

HI, i have 512 MB RAM... i dont play games much and i have no problems so far. But if u r using VISTA or WINDOWS 7 512 MB is not enough... u should have least of 1 GB RAM.

My computers has 1GB of Ram. I think it depends on what are you going to do with your computer. If it includes browsing duties, some wordprocessor tasks than a 512MB of Ram might be enough for your requirements. If you are into gaming and are into graphical design I would urge you to upgrade at least to 1GB of Ram.

It all depends on what you use the computer for. For me, I am using 2GB RAM and I am finding it slow when running applications and opening big files. The more RAM the better, the more RAM there is more space to roam. lol.

I have XP Pro and the PC system has 2 GIG Memory. I do have two programs that uses this extra Memory. So while XP will run om 512MG if you have any extra programs you need extra RAM.

512MB RAM is the minimum requirement to run Xp (although my laptop only has 256) which is needed to run the background services and 1 or 2 applications smoothly. Increasing RAM helps if you processor can handle it eg if you have 4GB RAM but only a 2.0Ghz processor, it will be limited by the processor unless you are multitasking(talking a bout dual cores and above now). So if you are not into heavy usage (as mentioned by everyone else before me)it's good enough but seriously, there are more flash on websites now and slows down the computer a lot faster

My friend, 512 is not enough for me. I always go online with multi tabs on my browser at my home computer and it's still running fast. i have tried doing it on a Pc with a 512 RAM and the unit lags and hangs for some time before loading agin normally. I think the recommended RAM nowadays is 1GB and higher.
