Do you congratulate anyone if you like their performance or just keep quiet?

If I like anybody's performance like singing, dancing, playing any instrument etc., whether they are a big artist or an amateur artist, I immediately congratulate them and show my happiness over their performance. But some people do not show their enjoyment of the performance and will be silent. It is only the nature of the individual. What sort of person are you, do you congratulate the artist or just admire and keep quiet?

That is really so nice of you to congratulate the artist, which, as you said, will encourage them a lot.

they need our affirmations and it will make them perform better. artists are inspired by the way their audience react. the applause and our words of affirmation lift their spirits and feel good about their performance.

I love singing and dancing and that is the reason I praise and congratulate peoples who does good. Praising singing or dancing or any action boosts the confidence of the performers. I love to see all around me happy and by congratulating people I do a bit of it.

I am the type to congratulate, because by doing that it can build up the confidence of the person and he or she will know that the performance was appreciated. If we just sit down and keep quiet without offering even a word of congratulations, for me I think that it doesn't show much character because either we are jealous that people are more talented than us, or that we have the mindset that it is the performers responsibility to perform for us. In this matter, I think we should not be selfish in offering our congratulations if the person really deserves it. Even if the performance isn't that great, as long as if the person has shown effort I think that is well worth a pat on the back.

I think that it is important to congratulate those people whose performances that we've enjoyed because if we don't congratulate them then they may quit performing. You see, anyone that is a performer draws much of their lifeblood from the fact that there are people that really enjoy what they are doing and if no one tells them that the appreciate it, then their drive to continue doing what they've been doing may come to an end.

Very well said Dorannmwin. In fact that is the main motive of showing our appreciation by way of clapping hands or telling some words of appreciation.

I do congratulate them after the performance but there have been cases where i just kept quite, simply because he may not be my best friend or someone who i consider to be close to me.

ok. Even I do not go closer to the artist, if many are surrounding the artist. I feel they may be in a hurry to go, so why to add some more confusion?

If I enjoy the performance and am able to speak with the performer, I say how much I enjoyed it.

I always feel that a sincere expression of gratitude or appreciation is in order should you hear a good performance, or know that someone has accomplished something in their lives that can be congratulated.

Hi! Im kinda slow with congratulating people. Luckily, many other congratulate spontaneously so I dont have to. But I do punch the wall and say congratulations if it was me thats been closest to the performer. I clap my hands like everyone does as another way of congratulating the person who did well with his/her performance. when i thank for their performance I'm not disguising. its from my heart.

If given the opportunity, I congratulate the artist. But I generally don't get close to the artist, so they merely get applause and a standing ovation, if they're really good. Maybe a cheer, too.

Yesss, why not? If they deserve, why not? If the people is good in what he/she does the deserve the congratulation. And It is good for the performer, helps in his next time in the stage. If you do not, start to do, now! haha :P

I happen to be someone who appreciates things silently. I will continue to give my support with my presence but clapping, I am too lazy to exercise my palms and wrists. Afterall, clapping has become a formality. People clap whether they like it or not.

Clapping is also a sort of appreciation. At least for the effort they put in, we can clap is it not?

It depends on my mood, if i feel chitty chatty at that time, I would be vocal about my admiration and stand up to congratulate the performer. If not, I just keep quiet, walk away, but keep the memories of such a wonderful performance at the show.

I always try to congratulate people if I thought they performed well. It's when I didn't like the performance that I feel awkward and am unsure of exactly what I should do. It's like when I've gone to see a play and thought that the acting and stage direction were terrible and then afterwards the whole cast is lined up by the exit so you have to greet them in order to leave. I absolutely hate that! If I want to see the cast afterwards and congratulate them, then I would definitely like to seek them out on my own rather than having an awkward greeting where I mumble some sort of positive comment just so I can get out the door.

I always congratulate people on their performance, even if I didn't like the performance. The person performing worked hard and des to be congratulated for their hard work. I always show my happiness for that person and their performanace. I'm not one that just sits by quietly.
