Hey Mylotters! I'm in the process of starting a non profit to assist homeless individuals in Richmond, VA and I'm looking for creative fundraising ideas that does't require selling candy and snacks. Any suggestions?

Get with some of the churches here locally. Many of them have CARITAS and may be willing to let you hold a yard sale/craft sale in thier parking lot. You could sell tables or have people donate items that you could sell to raise money. Hold a car wash. That often brings in good money and does not cost much. If you need some places that may allow you to do this in Richmond post something back. I know of a few that are pretty good about doing this kind of thing.

I know in our area that American Girl Doll Bingo is a really big hit. Our Local little league brought in several thousand last spring from one of these. What they do is get in contact with the American Girl doll company and they have a fundraising booklet that they send out. It walks the organization through the how to steps of asking for donations and setting up and running the bingo. When growing up the fire department my father belongs to would have an annual Chinese auction and a fall silent auction. Also many companies such as Avon, and Tupperware have fundraising options as well. If they all sound just a little too complicated to start out with try having a kiddie craft booth at a local crafts show. Easy cheap crafts done for a dollar or two give parents something to have their kids do as well as make you some money for your organization. Good Luck!

Congrats! What a good idea. What about a website where people can donate via paypal or send blankets etc? I can't believe people would be homeless in that cold weather up there...that bothers me!

Um... car wash? Sorry, that is the only idea I can think of at the moment. Keep up the good work! :)
