Has anyone bought Crazy Critters, the new dog toy?

I saw these on TV and they claim that they can withstand a lot of abuse. However, the dogs they film playing with the toy don't really play rough with them. I have a Boston Terrier who is huge, very tall and heavy like the breed used to be before they downsized them. Gus is 35 pounds and has unbelievable jaw strength. I have to make his toys from doubled denim and even then they only last a couple of weeks at the most. I don't want to spend money on these new toys if they can't withstand his abuse--Boston Terriers, the originals like Gus, have nearly the jaw strength of Pitbulls. So, has anyone tried these? I would love to be able to stop piecing toys together on my sewing machine. There is no dog toy in stores that Gus can't tear up in a few days or at most, a week.

I look for one thing when I'm buying a dog toy, CHEAP. It wouldn't matter if it was made out of Kevlar & stuffed with cinder blocks my wolf dogs could destroy it. What would be the point of getting something pricey?

I've got 120+ lb wolfdogs ( see my profile for pics ). NOTHING stands up to them for very long including the fencing. I've had to build Fort Knox to try to hold them & I still get the occasional escape where they've gone through the wire.

Uath, It's the fox!! they haven't torn that up yet, and you got it about 2 months ago. It's like the bunny I just got for $3. Surprisingly, the squeaker is still inside!

I understand what you're saying but if the toys last through rough play they would be worth it to me. I spend that much on tough cloth and labor every year! I have my doubts, as the dog who is playing with the toys is big but doesn't seem to play rough with it.

Gus and Cookie love the squeakers! I have a few from old toys they've destroyed and I know what you mean, I watch them carefully so they don't get the squeaker and swallow the little metal piece. Man, you squeak a toy and wherever they are they come running!

My oldest Maltese does that very thing to her squeaky toys! She'll chew, pull and dig until she gets that squeaker out of them. Of course, half the stuffing comes out with it.

my problem is, i watch coco like i did my babies and i always take it till i can sew it back up. i often worry about if she would swallow the noise maker inside. but hope she never does. she so loves making them squick and jingle. i dont have the heart to keep them from her. its the only ones she plays with. the noise makers.

I´ve never tried these, but I doubt they´re up to sustained abuse from a tough dog. Most toys aren´t. I don´t even bother giving my dogs special toys any more. I give them lumps of wood, old plastic bottles or similar to beat up on. If I forget then they eat their food bowls!

My dogs love to play tug. Cookie is a lightweight with a long nose and it's easy to play with her but Gus, the Boston Terrier, has strength enough to tear most toys to pieces in less than a day of hard play.

I would think that, if it's made from any kind of cloth, Gus will tear it up. I had a Peekapoo years ago (part Pekinese, part Poodle) who loved playing with balls. He wasn't a large dog, only about 25 pounds, but he destroyed every kind of ball I gave him except one. Along with the normal dog balls, he chewed up a tennis ball, a volleyball and a basketball! The ONLY ball he couldn't puncture was a lacrosse ball. They're solid rubber. But, believe me, he tried! I didn't think he could pop a basketball because of it's size but he did. My oldest girl tears up every cloth-type toy she's ever gotten. As a matter of fact, there is only one here that has lasted longer than a year and that one actually belongs to my youngest girl, who takes it away from the older girl whenever she sees her with it. I think that's the only reason it's still around and in one piece. Dogs are incredible. Even the tiny ones, like my Maltese, have jaws much stronger than they look. My girls have even put teeth marks in solid bones. They're SCARY! Good luck! Maybe give Gus a good talking to. Probably won't help, though. They rarely listen when it comes to toys.

You're lucky they like balls, Gus could not care less. Occasionally he'll bring me the tennis ball but it's not a toy that I can play tug with him so he doesn't like it much. Your girls sound precious!

I haven't tried the Crazy Criitter yet simply because they don't look strong enough to withstand my 2 babies. For my birthday my brother gave me 2 Nylabones for my 2 babies & they've lasted a month already & appear that it will be quite a while before they'll be gone. I don't know where he bought them, but knowing him, he got them at Amazon. I went to Nylabone.com but didn't see the ones he gave me. The only thing I don't like about them is that the bone is coated with nylon. They say it is almost impossible for the dog to break through the nylon. I worry what will happen if they do & swallow it. My male is strong jawed also & he hasn't made a good dent in it yet. The nylon is supposed to shave off in rice sized pieces & pass through the dog's system with NO problem. As the pieces shreds off, it's supposed to clean their teeth. I've not noticed ttheir teeth are any cleaner, but I've also not noticed them becoming any dirtier. The Nylabone has lasted longer than any othe bone I've bought for them & they seem to like them. The bones come in Small, Medium & Wolf sides. Wolf is for the larger, stronger dogs. http://www.amazon.com/Nylabone-478164-tan-NAT-GALILEO-SOUPER/dp/B0002ZILRW/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1268359947&sr=8-6 This is the one he bought. This particular one is somewhat pricey, but so far it is lasting & probably worth the money. He bought the dogs some expensive rawhide type that only lasted 2 days & cost about the same. So far, I'm really liking these bones!!!

My dogs don't like the nylabone, it is not tasty. I give them bully sticks, which they love. Still, I want to find a dog toy that I don't have to hand sew in order for it to last a week or more! I'm glad your babies enjoy their treats. I should not have been so indulgent with mine!

My dogs would have them ripped to little tiny pieces before I could blink. My Lab mix is 67 pounds and still growing and is very rough. My shepherd mix has very large teeth for her breed and is believed to have some wolf in her, which may have contributed to the abnormally large teeth, so she has very intense jaw strength. So the crazy critters would not like long at all. People will say anything to sell a product.

I make my dogs' toys and they last a few weeks so it can be done! I just hate to sew. Have you seen the commercial? That lab isn't really playing with it, I think. Unless it's made of some special material that is non-tear, I doubt it would last more than half a day in my house!

No, I do not trust that thing. I have two pit bulls that can rip up anything I give them in the back yard. Right now the backyard is white from stuffing from the last toy I gave them. Maybe the thing works but I do not trust TV products.

I usually don't trust them either. But this one looked like something I actually would use. I'm tired of sewing toys, it sounds as if you have the same needs as I do! I have to double up the material and double or triple stitch it.

Hi dragon! I haven't seen any of these toys yet but I'll be happy to put one through the Dyna test as soon as I do. So far Dyna (a Florida Cur and Pit mix who weighs about 60lbs.) has destroyed every indestructable toy I've bought for her. The only toy she hasn't destroyed is a rubber squeeky toy that she likes so she hasn't chewed that one up but she easily could.

I remember seeing a picture of Dyna, she's a big, strong girl! I usually TiVo past commercials but I stopped for this one. I get so tired of sewing but Gus will even chew up rope toys, taking the knots out and separating the strands. The toys end up in tatters. I'd really appreciate reading your review if you get one of these!
