I saw this news today morning.Steve Waugh have said that Don Bradman is the greatest ever and not Sachin. After seeing this I don't what to say.I always respect Steve Waugh for his great captaincy. But I never expect he would comment like this.
He said that "Sachin may be the second good batsmen but not greatest"
I agree that Don Bradman is the real Don of Cricket. No doubt in that but Sachin is also a Don.Do you agree...? Whether any other batsmen in the world have a patience like Sachin has..I won't say that Sachin is the first then comes Don Bradman. If I said that then it is a wrong. But Sachin too is the greatest batsmen and he is the second best next to Bradman...
I don't know why Steve Waugh said like this...Whether Sachin is greatest or not...?

Hi Gany!
You say, 'Sachin too is the greatest batsmen and he is the second best next to Bradman...'
If you see then you will find that Steve Waugh also said the same.
He didn't say Sachin is not great.
He said, "when you talk about Greatest Batsmen Don Bradman comes first. There is no doubt about it. Sachin might be next. But there are others who say Sobers and WG Grace were also great. So..."
And he didn't say anything like Sachin is not great.
Happy Mylotting!

Hi Siliguri!
Show me where did I say that Don Bradman is superior than Sachin? Then Why you asking me to prove it?
Hi Gani!
Bradman was also around a many years and he was not just a cricketer he had involved in many other things too. World war affected his best playing years.
One thing is we shouldn't expect everyone to say that Sachin is great.
Just imagine, Sachin in place of Bradman and Bradman in place of Sachin and playing currently with an average of 99.94 but only 29 centuries. Who do you rate best?
As I say, everyone has their own yardsticks to measure greateness. So some find Bradman as great and some Sachin as great and Some Lara, ponting, sobers etc.
The fact is there is no single yardstick to compare players from all eras.
So singling out just one player and saying that he is greatest will always raises debates.
Happy Mylotting!

Ok..I agree then where does the word might be came from...Sachin is there for 20 years...and still looking good and making records. This shows he is best.
If he said sachin is second then I would not have started this discussion. He said may be..so I started....Sachin is best.

Australian players always think that they are superior...no one else..they are being jealous with the sachin achievements...And that time when don used to play there is no such great player then today has..so he attract much audience. with his batting..and comes in the eye of the audience is very much difficult today...because every player playing tremendously..and sachin is above all of them ... i think there should be no debate on this matter... steve waugh also knows sachin is much better then Sir bradman...

The egg first or the hen we have had this conundrum going on for ages now. And now we have a new one - Don greatest or Sachin. The former conundrum might not have a satisfactory answer but the latter surely has. To identify one's greatness, one has to have a great mind and a great respect for the other and that is exactly what Steve Waugh seems to be missing. See, Don faced feared bowlers - all right. However, just consider those days. There was no professional training those days. There was no big ambition as we see today. Those were just early days of cricket and the sport was evolving as such. But see what we have got today. You can start from understanding in how much degree your elbow bends to where the bowl might have pitched or hit the batsman or the wicket. Moreover, there is a lot of professional training given by world-class bowlers. Bowlers are groomed. Had any bowler such type of guidance those days? Were any bowlers groomed so professionally in those days? Moreover, the Don played cricket against only those countries that had Test recognition. They might be something like 4 or 5 in number. But now we have almost 10 countries playing Test cricket and Sachin has played against all of these countries. Moreover, Don played on Test cricket. Here Sachin is making records virtually in every department of the game. Therefore, there can be no comparison as to who is great. Australians specially, admit that Sachin is the greatest ever to have played the game and mark this sentence with a big full stop that will end this debate until the Sun never sets forever.

Cricket is one of the professional game.. whoever likes this game and plays very well.. they are all professional players.. in this how can we say he is the best...
According to me, every player have different style and different records... if a new record is created, shall we forget the old record... I tell you that old records paved the way for new record...
In such manner, I admire,
Mr.Charles Bannerman who hit the first century in test cricket &
Mr.Dennis Amiss, who hit the first century in one day international...
So, one by one break this record and became 200 runs landmark in one day international and 400 runs in test cricket...

seriously,i cant find any difference between what you are saying and what steve said.
you said that don is the greatest and sachin is also greatest and it is contrary. so i take it don is greatest while sachin is the second greatest.
i believe steve said the same thing.
don is the greatest and sachin may be the second good player.he is clever because the only way you can use the word greatest to describe 2 persons from the same game is ONE OF THE GREATEST and if was used then sachin and don will be considered equal which is unfair so what steve said is correct.
don is always number one and tendulkar number 2.
be happy he didnt say ponting is better than sachin

I agree that Bradman is first and Sachin is second.
But what steve waugh told is Sachin may be the second good and not second best...mark the words may be.He not even saying ok he is second good batsmen...
A good cricketer should appreciate...Where does the word may becomes from.Whether sachin is not best..?....He is the God of cricket..I believe in that..
Then about pointing...I would never mind him as a player..I got frustrated after he did some indisciplinary actions vs India a few years ago...
Pointing...

Sachin is definitely the best cricketers the world has seen and I am proud to have seen him play. People will say hundred things but at the end of the day the truth cannot be hidden as to who the master is.There can be only one Little Master of cricket who has defined the game and that is Sachin.Period.

difference between don bradman and sachin is simple
bradman played in bowling friendly conditions without helmet on top of his.. and with rules in favor of bowlers...
i dont see sachin could have scored 200 when all the balls where sailing over his head and when the bowlers could have a free shy at the batsman's face...
but nothing should be taken away from the little master, he still scored thousands and thousands of runs when players along him could not score... and i guess there should b no comparison with the don bradman... and the comment made by steve waugh us bcoz don is a fellow aussie and these are oz ways...
bradman might be a legend the greatest cricketer of all time...
but
SACHIN RAMESH TENDULKAR is the GOD of cricket...

Hey friend,
Don't take it to your heart. Everyone knows that the Aussies are always infamous for making scorning comments about foreign especially Asian cricketers. They are all birds of the same feather. This is not also any different. It's their own inherited nature by birth. You must have remembered how Australian Bowler Shane Warne commented on Pakistani captain Mohammad Yusuf: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/mohammad-yousuf-captaincy-horrendous-shane-warne/story-e6frf9if-1225822344986 So, If they like to eat craps, you better let them, we shouldn't imitate them. Have patience, my dear friend. Their reign in the world of cricket won't last long.
Have a nice day.

I do respect Steve Waugh's opinion. Every person has his right to his opinions. But yes Sachin and Donald Bradman are two of the greatest cricketers ever.

Where you have seen this ???
Bradman is an extrordinary batsman but the thins was "He haven't played for a log time" that is his stamina.... Who knows he might not played that much if he continued for few more years... (As all of us know he got out for a DUCK in his last match...
But take sachin... the Run Machine..... Playing for the country more than 20 years... still he is the best ever cricketer.... The records held by him will tell this....Even at this position he is ground to earth.. respects people....Great Man.... In my view Sachin will be the ever best for this century.....

reality is other cricketers have higher averages, facing uncovered pitches with out helmets and had interupted careers with war..what would tendulkar average under the above conditions? who knows
but you cant compare that, the only thing you can compare is how each player compared to his contemporaries, tendulkar has an average less than ponting, similar to kallis, dravid, lara and maybe one or two others..his agregrate runs and centuries are higher than any other player by approx 10% so he is probably better than his contemporaries but you can debate..
Bradman avrged 99.94 in test and 94 in first class, approx 50% above his contemporaries, his agregate is hard to compare because of the war where he lost 6 years, even with the war his agregate of centuries was 29, atleast 50% times more than any other contemporary. This is why the comparison is not debatable for Don Bradman and other cricketers but Don Bradman and any other sportsman to play a major sport, do your research even there Bradman is far superior.
