I used Avira about two yeawrs ago. It was less than a month because there were things which I did not like about it. I moved on to trying other suites. I have been using Comodo Internet Security for more than a year. It is free, and during the installation we can choose the components to be installed. Comodo has come up with a more comprehensive suite in the form of CIS 4. Among the features available are more choices on what to do if there is warning, and the sandbox being enabled by default. To those scratching their heads ob reading the word sandbox, basicaslly it means that unrecognised programs are run in a separate box, like virtual box. Thus there is greater security. I set the security level to its maximum. It results in more pop ups whenever an unrecognised program starts running, but I prefer the hassle rather than having malicious codes stealthily creeping into the system.

Yeah I have used avira antivirus before and it is quite good. fortunately i didn't witness all those problems like the machine getting slowed down.there is a feature inbuilt in antiviruses which is auto updates .always keep that on.may be your computer is slowing down because the antivirus is scanning your documents.Do you perform periodic scans of your computer system? If not then do it at least once a fortnight.Right now I am using Kaspersky however I am not satisfied with its performance.Actually I got it for free from my cousin who had installed Zone alarm instead of kaspersky.Remember one thing that all antivirus will definitely slow down your computer to a certain extent.Perform those periodic scans and I believe that your problem will be mitigated.

Kaspersky is good but there is a recent article in an internet site which stated that kaspersky is getting hacked. There are good antiviruses like Norton,Zone alarm etc. but I will ask you to remain with your avira.Avira gives excellent protection and it is used even in cyber cafes. So don't give it up. Still if your mind is hell bent on changing your antivirus then I will ask you to go for Zone Alarm.Yeah it's true that it slows down your machine but the protection that it provides is absolutely excellent.I hope that you will find this post beneficial

Currently I'm using AVG free eddition. And, it has worked good for me so far. I'm not having any trouble with it, and it doesn't slow down my system. Even with it running in the background, I've had no trouble with it what so ever. Finding a free anti-virous that is actually free was tricky. I doubted such a thing existed. But, I'm happy with what i have and I have protection that works.

i'm using kaspersky 7..it has never failed me ever since i used it..it killed all the viruses in my computer and all the flash drives that was installed on it..you just have to make sure that you're antivirus has an updated database so that you would have protection against new viruses.. i think avira is good to..this one is used in my school..but kaspersky is easier to use and more convenient i think..
