since tomato is red and tomato ketchup is red. banana is yellow, but why is banana ketchup red? of course it's because of food coloring. but, would you prefer banana ketchup to be yellow?

I dont know..I would guess that the reason it is red is because they were afraid people would mistake it for mustard, hence lost sales..just a guess. I have never tried it but I would..color would not much matter to me, just taste..have you had it? Is it good?

There are different brands of banana ketchup in the Philippines. Its also cheaper than tomato ketchup that's why a lot of people buy them. I have tasted banana ketchup and its actually sweeter than tomato ketchup. But I prefer to eat tomato ketchup because for me it taste better. I dont like eating hamburgers with banana ketchup or french fries with banana ketchup, it has to be tomato!

I don't think I've ever had banana ketchup, and it would be "weird" eating a yellow ketchup. I think I prefer red ketchup.

I wonder why also they made the banana ketchup to red color I think to compete with tomato ketchup. Here in our country banana is more popular than tomato because it is much cheaper compare to tomato ketchup and it is much sweeter too than the sour taste of tomato.

Yeahh, I think banana ketchup should be yellow. I hate banana ketchup so I really have to know always if what I'm putting on my food is not a banana ketchup.

i never tried banana ketchup yet and i dont know what it taste as im into tomato ketchup. and the reason why they make it red is for the people to distinguish the item as ketchup since if its ketchup its really red in color. besides the kids will look for ketchup that is red and if you will give yellow in color im sure they will not believe that its ketchup so they make it red coz most of the banana ketchup user are kids.

I dont really like banana ketchup that much but making it yellow seems interesting. It will be strange at first to look at a yellow banana ketchup but if the color will not change its taste then it would be okay. I wonder if they are even going to manufacture yellow banana ketchup after seeing this discussion. You should be credited for that. However, I am still an avid fan of tomato ketchup so I will stick to eating and buying tomato ketchup instead of the banana ketchup. There are some occasions that I would use banana ketchup but rarely.

Well nice question. They add up to bring the fruit or the vegetable in mind. So they prepare it with those combination colours.
