Naomi had an award ceremony she wanted us to go to this morning. She wasn't sure if she was getting Silver Eagle (B average) or Golden Eagle (A average), but she wanted us there. So I worked from home this morning and then I went to the school auditorium. When her class walked in, she saw me right away. Her little face lit up so bright they could probably have seen it across the street if we hadn't been inside.
Working through lunch* - a few aching muscles from not getting a walk
A little extra gas to drive to school - 25 cents?
The look on the face - priceless
Oh yeah PS she got a Silver Eagle award
*I'm really working hard here too! lol

Hi Dawn,
Congratulations to Naomi and of course to you. Good job mommy dawn for your daughter. i can imagine the scene when she saw you around. it happened to me too with my sons who had a dance number in school. i teased them that i am not coming but suddenly appeared in their school. i love the reaction, i was so touched then. proud mommy dawn and lucky baby naomi for having you as her mom.

Congratulations Naomi! I agree that when a child's face lights up, it is indeed priceless. Specially if you have something to do with it.
I've seen those smiles a few times with my kids too. Once in a while, in-between butting heads, and the whining, and the crying, and the complaining, you see those faces light up. And sometimes it doesn't take much.

That smile is one of the many joys of being a mother - something that says so much and gives so much.
Congrats to Naomi.
Don't work tooooooooo hard!

I live for that look! It means so much to them to see mum there during their moment and you’re right it is priceless! I’ve turned up at school assemblies when I knew my daughter would receive a merit award and I could feel her joy at seeing me. I don’t think there is anyone else in the world that is so happy to see me like she is and there is no one else in the world who I love they way I love my little daughter, she is my angel miracle; I know it sounds soppy but I’ve just got to say it. It’s what being a mother is all about… Congratulations Naomi for your Silver Eagle, well done and well done mum for working so hard!

When we came home to show my 5 year old her new little brother, we placed the baby in her lap and ohhhhhhhh she just had the biggest grin on her face like we've never seen before. She was sooooo proud . . . like you said, the look was priceless!
