Smelly Feet at Fla. Airport May Prompt Security Change Friday , March 12, 2010 AP WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Something stinks at Palm Beach International Airport. And apparently it's the no-shoes rule through security gates. The county airports director said at an advisory board meeting Wednesday security personnel "are complaining of odor" in the area and requested a change. Flight delays often mean a shorter window than the airport's regular 4:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. hours provide, meaning new carpet might be a better more feasible than a good shampooing. The county is already replacing much of the terminal tile and carpet, but nothing was immediately promised for the stinky security area. http://www.foxnews.com/printer_friendly_story/0,3566,589078,00.html

WPB isn't the only airport with a stinky feet problem. My daughter flies up north to visit her father every year and she's commented about the foot odor problem before. We use both WPB and the airport in Ft. Lauderdale down here...and she's flown back home via Dullas and BWI in Maryland. I've always told her to wear two pairs of socks and to remove the outer pair after she goes through the security checkpoint and before she puts her shoes back on because I don't want her to pick up anything from those floors. Smelling stinky feet is a small price to pay in order to ensure the safety of passengers on those jets, imo.

I think it's funny, too! I hope they pay the folks who have to smell feet all day long a decent salary.

All because of one guy who's God told him to put a bomb in his shoe we all get to suffer. The terrorism that keeps on terrorizing. We never think about like that. We keep changing our lives because of one guy. Some guy who's God told him to stuff explosive in his underwear and now we have these I can see your whats under your underwear machines.

Xrays will be a picnic when they get to full strip searches for everyone. And everyone who laughs at me for that statement...you would also laughed at me if I had said full body xrays for everyone a few years ago.

Maybe the solution is to profile passengers and closely screen those who fit the profile of a terrorist. To the best of my knowledge no little old ladies with knitting needles have hijacker or tried to blow up a plane.
