I think i have got cystitis again, the last time i had this problem was when i was pregnant the time before that i had a kidney and liver disorder. For the last week i have been trying to drink lotys more water as they say that this flushes the system out ans prevents cystitis.Today i have gone to the chemist and got something for it they are sachets and there are 6 to take in total so i hope by Monday the problem will be gone and if it has not then i will have to see the dr again and hope that it is not like the kidney and liver disorder.Do you suffer with this and what do you have to sort the problem out.

hi jugsjugs oh that urinarytract infection is so irritating but you are 'doing the right thing although if its very bad you will need antibiotics believe me. I had it and all of a sudden I felt like I was having a super low blood sugar, my lips got numb, and I was weak and dizzy, the nurse thought maybe I was having a stroke so she called an ambulance and I went to the er after umpteen tests my urine test showed I had a URI or urinary tract infection, same thing as cystitis and they put me on strong antibiotics and told me to drink a ton of water too. Also if you have cranberry juice drink it as that helps prevent urinary infections too.but the drinking of lots of water is the main key and taking antibiotics too. I am a diabetic and had all the symtoms of low blood sugar and some of having a stroke, but thank God it was not a stroke. Ijust had a severe urinary tract infection, they used to call it cystitis but now it goes by urinary tract infection.good luck jugsjugs and do get antibiotics if it does not clear up very soon., God Bless.

I hate having this problem as everytime you want a pee you know it is going to hurt and for people to say make sure you empty your bladder fully well as you know it hurts.I think i must have drank for ten people just to try to shift this and i do not mind the drinking as thats ok but what go in must come out.I hope these sachets are going to sort it for me,but if not then i will see the dr on Monday as i do not think i want to be feeling like this any longer than i have to.When i come back i want to come back as a man, lol.

I try to keep my body flushed out by drinking lots of fluid as that way there is less chance of having cystitis,i normally drink alot of fluid, but i drink more if i get this problem which is rare i am pleased to say.Thankfully even after having 6 children i am not incontinent, well not yet anyway. But if you drink alot you have to pee alot.

What is a "sachet?" Is that like a pill, or something you have to apply? I know a chemist is a pharmacist, but I am not sure what a sachet is. I get cystitis all the time, and had a major problem with it a couple of weeks ago. My doctor was not in the office that day, and the doctor on call gave me some stupid pills which made me feel like $h!t for the 10 days that I was taking them. I got off the pills last week, and promptly got a cold. I got over the cold a couple of days ago, and started my period. I hope nothing else happens. I'd like a healthy week this month. LOL

I was going to suggest cranberry juice too. It can also be found as cranberry extract in pill form which can be bought over the counter in chemists. It worked wonders for a friend of mine who drank it regularly even when the bout of cystitis had passed. It helps keep you 'flushed out'.

I have never had anything like that but my ex did. At least I think that was what he called it. He had it on his leg and it was very nasty looking. It seeped and was red and swollen and he had a fever. They weren't sure how he got it. The first time he was in Arizona and they thought something might have bit him or from the heat. The second time, he was here in Pennsylvania, so it couldn't have been the heat.

Wow. sounds irritating. I can only imagine. I've got my own share of health problems, and I'm quite open to share, but I find that people freak out when we get to open or personal about such things. Needless to say I'm open-minded and curious about all people's health problems.

I suffered from cystitis on a regular basis for years and there is not much else that is as painful and uncomfortable. I used to take the sachets as well which worked fine if I caught it early enough otherwise antibiotics was the only way to clear it up. I remember being in Singapore on a holiday years ago and waking up with the first symptoms. I knew I had to find a doctor but decided to try and battle it myself first. I sat there and drank litres and litres of water over a four hour period and lo and behold the pain began to subside and I recovered so drinking water is a must. I don’t get it so much these days; I think the fact that I’ve been lucky and I drink a couple of litres of water each day may have something to do with it! I hope it disappears by the time the weekend is over and that it is nothing more serious, all the best...

oh poor you,my mum swears by drinking cranberry juice or bicarbonate of soda mixed with water, she says it neutralizes the urine and stops the stinging sensation, although it does'nt get rid of it,it just helps the discomfort

I'm lucky that I've never had to deal with any problems with my kidneys or my liver. However, recently my husband has been dealing with a lot of problems due to kidney stones. Some of the things that he is doing to help his kidneys is to try to drink plenty of water. We've also added a lot of cranberry juice as well since that is really good for helping to keep the kidneys flushed. Regardless, I hope that the treatment that you've gotten works out for you.

Sorry to hear that jugsjugs!! I've gotten that a few times in the past . . . oh, it's not fun. Right when I think I'm going to get it, I drink lots of water and eat tons of yogurt. Apparently yogurt has the good bacteria to fight it off . . . but it's plain yogurt - not the sugary fruity kind. I avoid sugar (processed or natural) and dairy all I can (yogurt doesn't count as dairy) during that time. They say drink cranberry juice, but that may be questionable - it still has the "sugar" factor . . . so I don't drink that when it happens. If I catch it early enough and drink loads of water and yogurt, it usually goes away.

Hello, Jugsjugs, i think you are a little susceptible to the illness, aside from the cure, later, you should concentrate on the precautions.

It if odd that you put this discussion up today. I was just talking to my friend who told me that she found out from the doctor that she has a small cyst in her liver. The doctor says it's very common and will go away on its own. I don't know what cystitus is. Is it something similar to this?
