I just came home from work. The weather is really crazy out there all day long. About 3 pm the electricity at the department store that I work started to flicker, and then went totally off. After a minute, the back up generator supposed to run, but somehow not good enough so only couple lights came back on, and only 2 cash registers on each floor still running.
And it kept that way for about 90 minutes. Since it's only 3 cash registers running the rest of the workers being send on every corner that dark enough and also stand by on every entrance and exit door. I can't believe how many people really try to get away with stealing items while the store is in chaos.
Finally lights back on and our security offices was busy with shoplifters that get caught.
What a day...

It is very sad that people do try to shop lift when stores are vulnerable. I'm glad that they caught and held the shoplifters until they could be dealt with. I do wonder how many got away whilst the lights went out. I'm sure a few very smart ones went to the doors whilst the lights were coming back on, or maybe even before that!
In any case, how did they get the employees to the doors? Was it ordered over the intercom?

The security and store detective plus the manager spread out and pull everybody to get to the entrance and exit door. And some really stand by near area that dark enough. The reason is when the electricity out, all those security camera don't work.

That is true, I didn't actually think about that, but it's true about the security cameras. They don't really work when the power goes out. Yea, standing near the dark areas was a good idea.

I mostley go to the mall to play Pump it Up!, my favorite arcade game. (I have no money to waste in shopping, it's very sad but whatever, some people are born with moneym some are not xDD). So anyway, when playing, you get 3 songs and if you do good on these 3 songs, you get an extra 4th one. One day I was playing with my friend, it was very rainey out but you coudln't see it cuz the arcade was on the "basment" floor. So, we got up to the 4th song and we started playing. Just then, the lights went throughout the whole shop. It got extrememley dark for about 2 minutes since we were on ther last floor of the whole building. When it went back, of course we needed to get refunded because of this mishap right? RIGHT! We got 2 more credits to play for free and we played 4 more songs all over again! I love it when that happens! And beleive me, it has happened a few times. 3 times last year, to be exact!

Oh I hope it won't happen again.
