In basketball video games, there are 2 major games, NBA 2k10 developed by 2k sports and NBA live developed by EA sports. Throughout the years, many gamers has debated whether one game was better than the other. Let's see the pros and cons of each game. NBA Live 10 Pros - Good defensive mechanism. The defence is always has the advantage, they can bump you and easily keep you out of the paint. So that forces the offence to shoot often. That means the scoring FG% is more realistic. Scoring in the paint is also more difficult. Another upgrade for the defence is that the ball will not go through players. That means if you pass it to your teamate but he's behind a defender, then the defender will either tip it or steal it. Finally, the player with the ball cannot do tons of tricks and crossovers like the previous versions. Because excessive tricks means turnover, the player will trip, hit the ball on their foot or just lose control of the ball. These improvements all make the game more realistic and harder to score. Another feature I like is the practice mode when the game is loading, the AllStar Weekend and the music, intro and picture of the stadium before the game starts, it creates a great atmosphere as if you were watching a game. Cons - Bad visual effects. This is the main reason people choose 2k games over the Live series. Although the concept of EA games might be better, it might be more realistic, the defence might be better, people still like 2k more because of it's superior graphics. In Live, the players' movements are still robotic and somewhat ugly. They don't look natural or smooth. The floor of the stadium, the lighting also aren't as good as 2k, it looks too plain. Another thing about player movement is that they're very limited. There aren't that many different moves which you can pull off. You will find yourself doing the same crossover over and over again. Glitches....well, every game has them. However, there is a player animation which I dislike, even if I am benefiting from it. It's when a defender pressures the ball holder until the sideline, then they tiptoe and turns the ball over. This animation is too easy to achieve. Overall, the atmosphere and concept of the game is good, but the visual effects makes is feel like a bad game. 2k10 Pros - The visual effects are great, player movement is smooth and natural, even if you decide to pass when performing a layup, it looks great, just like how the real players do it. Another great thing is the new feature of the My Player mode. You control a player's NBA/D-league life. If you're good, you become a legend, if you're bad, you may go to the D-league. In this mode, teamwork is the key, they grade you on your passes, turnovers, assists, rebounds, help defence.....and so on. This mode is really fun as you are only concerned on the development of 1 player. Yourself. Also, you can also upload this player and play online using him and playing against other 'my players' Another great feature which I'm not sure of NBA Live has is the online league feature, you can have fantasy draft or normal teams. I find this really fun as you can go head on with your favourite players/teams against your friends. Cons - Although all games have glitches, this game has a lot of them. Passing the ball through defenders, cheerleaders not leaving the court, freezing the camera at the player's face when shooting a freethrow.... However, 2K has updated the game and most glitches are gone now, also, players are updated everyday on their attributes. Another bad thing is the defence, you can make the defender go on high pressure, but then...it doesn't do much. Also, there is no point in using a great defensive team such as the Celtics, because the defence won't be that good. Interior defence is the worst part. Computer controlled players on your team may move out of the way for the offensive player to cut in. I also find playing with computer controlled teamates in my player mode is awfully tormenting, they might not pass back, or they just hogg and you don't get your desired assist. However, even after all these setbacks, I still prefer NBA 2k10 over NBA Live 10, as it is a more enjoyable game overall. What do you think?

im playing 2k10. definitely, it s 2k10 for me. i just got tired of nba live and i wanted something new. moreover, i like 2k10 s players. 2k sports modelled them well. even the texturing of the players. and i also got used to 2k10 s control system. it s simple yet sophisticated. and while you re on offense, the other players run around, cutting corners to get open for a quick pass. i like that AI feature from 2k10. gives me more room to manuever and also prevents the plays from being almost linear.
