Hi All, My father use to listen to the Chieftains when I was a child. I've recently discovered Celtic Woman, but other than those tow groups I have no idea what's out there. I don't know whether to stick to the old ones, like The Chieftains to get a feel for it more or just go for the newer ones, like Celtic Woman, just to stay current. Anyone have suggestions for old or new groups?

How about The Pogues, Christy Moore, Planxty, The Dubliners, Paul Brady (not all his music is traditional Irish, but some is), The Boys From Lough? There's also Van Morrison. By no means all of his music is Irish, but a fair bit of his album stuff is. I'd recommend the album called Van Morrison & The Chieftans, but if you listen to any of his albums from around 1988-ish through until about 1999-ish, you'll probably find at least one Irish style track on each one. I can't think of any more off the top of my head, but if I do, I'll come back to this message and add another one.
