whoda thunk??
really people.. why all the hustle and bustle when a new storm blows in? this is NEW ENGLAND.. where if you dont like the weather, just wait five minutes!
it always amazes me the lines at the grocery stores.. at the gas stations.. the hoarding of supplies that goes on when it is predicted that a storm is on the way. having lived in new england all my life.. it is just common sense to ALWAYS be prepared! make sure you have enough water, batteries, etc etc blahblahblah. labor rolls around.. you put that shovel and the bag of kitty litter in the trunk "just in case" and still.. these people are scurrying like squirrels with a nut at the very LAST minute! where yall from anyways?? florida? where 2 inches of snow cripples the entire community and is call for a state of emergency? get real.. and get weatherized!!

Oh gosh this brought back memories of living in Toronto! LOL Do they have snow and storms in China? For a long time I had to wonder, because man oh man, Chinatown in Toronto in a storm,or a light falling of snow, or god forbid a bit of fog and the Chinese taxi drivers were all over the road, horns honking, people getting side swiped on the sidewalk and light standards blinking fiercely in fear of their uprightness! LOL What IS it about a bit of wonderful weather that scares the bejeezuz out of people? LOL Give me a rip roaring storm any day and I'm in my element.

They say the same thing about Ontario, Canada. Just wait 5 minutes and it will change, so stop complaining about it. Geesh!
We are always prepared here on the farm. We have a generator, we have heaters that don't require hydro, we have a battery pack that is always fully charged. We keep some big containers of drinking water, and plenty of stores in the cupboards. It is a regular occurence in the winter here to get snowed in for days, so NO I don't panic at all about a storm.
The last, biggest storm we got that gave us a bit of a scare was a lightning storm 2 summers ago, when our big tree on the front lawn got zapped. The SNAP was so loud we thought the house got hit and we all jumped out of our skin.
Here is a pic of right afterwards, you can see the split right down the middle. There were bits all over the road and lawn we had to clean up. And the next wind storm it fell apart completely. We now have a really big post on our lawn, with a sharp top point.

Okay, so today was a day just like you were talking about. It rained last night and we have had temps at 24C recently for a few days at a time. Then, the sun came out and was shining brightly, then it SNOWED! YEP, a full blown flurry for around a half hour and now the sun us shining brightly again. How about that?
