They are getting tattoo's on their ring fingers instead of buying wedding rings

My friends who are getiing married in May are doing this. Both don't wear jewelery and thought this would be a better idea then buy some wedding rings they won't wear. So they decided on the tattoo's. The groom and bride are getting black bands tatooed on their left ring fingers. I think it is a great idea if couples don't want to wear a ring!

this is not the first time i have heard of this though. i think it is also a good alternative, however, that if the marriage goes south, they are stuck with that tat and the memories it brings, right?

I have heard of this before. It is a good alternate for my friends. I hope their marriage won't go south! Tattoo's can be removed but it is expensive and does hurt! If not you are stuck with that tattoo forever!

different idea that's for sure. probably cheaper as well, rather than buying rings. i don't wear rings nor extra jewelery that often, only when i go out. cause of what i do work wise, in case i lose something or it gets caught and will do damage. best of luck to them.

I believe this is much cheaper then buying rings! The groom to be bought her an engagement which she never wears! This sounds more practical! I am not a jewerly wearer. Never have been either. I'm not worried of getting married so I am not worring ever wearing any rings in the future!

That is an interesting idea. It makes it harder to lose the ring and can't make excuses as to why they aren't wearing it. Instead just a black ring they could have some sort of design too make it a little more decorative or something. I realy like that idea.

Far as I know my friends just wanted the basic black ring tattoo. I couldn't see them having a fancy tattoo design on their ring finger! I couldn't see them wearing wedding rings at all!

My nephew & his wife did this when they got married. I guess I'm just too old to see the reason for it. When I got married the first time, I thought it was for life!!! Two years later he was sleeping with every female he could find in the state. I am soooo thankful that ALL I had to do was remove the ring he had given me. As it turned out, the ring he gave me had been given to a previous girlfriend & he gave it to me because it fit & didn't cost him anything. My niece-in-law said Atleast he can't take his ring off if he sees another girl he likes. I just wonder how the other woman is supposed to know it's a wedding ring??? When the divorce comes, it won't be so easy to take off the ring!!!

You sure had a **hole for a first husband and cheap! Yikes! Anyway I hope this two stay together for ever! I know if he would cheat, she'd came after him with a rifle! He knows that too! I hope neither one does! I know this is a risky thing to do the way marriage are today. Only time will tell if this will last or not. I hope it does! We see to many marriages end in divorce!

The thought is sweet but I am not a fan as well of getting a tattoo. But isn't it just sweet to have tattoo rings instead of the actual rings. If I were to be there I would mop a bit because the thought is nice and it would forever remind you of the promise you have made to each other.

blue65packer, I must agree that this idea is indeed uncommon and ingenious. However, it could not be applied generally because certain occupations like the civil service or modeling that does not encourage tattoos. So, people will have to know of their work restrictions and professions before engaging such an idea. Also, there will be certain quarters that aren't keen or never like tattoos. Doing this without the other party's consideration will also be a bane or puts a strain on their relationships. Have a nice day.

There are just as many occupations that won't allow a person to wear a wedding ring set (engagement ring, just the wedding band) and other occupations where it's simply unsafe to be wearing jewelry of any kind. It's a great alternative for people that work in those types of occupations, as well as for those who have problems such as arthritis that may cause their fingers to swell frequently.

zoey7879, I wonder if you've ever tried tattooing and if you haven't, try checking how it feels like especially when you mention about the arthritis issue. Tattooing on the finger can be quite an issue and you never know just how sensitive a lady's skin can be. I just feel that this option needs to be taken with due and careful consideration. Any rashness on either part will just be equally damaging. Have a nice day.

Both of my friends work in food service. So do I and I work with the future groom. He is a cook. So getting a tattoo instead of wearing a wedding ring seems more like a better idea then better! I never thought of this!

I wish we would have thought of that when we got married. That's a really great idea. We are still though planning on putting tattoos on our ring finger when we can. I think it shows the other hey I love you and I'm in this forever. And a tattoo is a pretty permanent thing that really can't be removed at all.

i think so. and that is the matter of showing their belief in each other. a tattoo will be life long and a ring can be thrown or lost in cases. but a tattoo could show that they did this for each other in future even. so it is just a matter of feelings and nothing else. what ever its a good idea.

I think it is a good idea and perfect for my friends. I know they want to spend their life together. I couldn't see either one wearing a wedding ring. The future groom did buy his future bride a engagement ring. She never wears it! This is a better!

I guess if it is what they want to do then that's great. I have to be honest and say that it's not the sort of thing I would do, I just don't like tattoo's.

I am not into tattoo's either. It wouldn't be for me. It seems to be the perfect idea for my friends. I hope they never get divorced or they are screwed!

That idea I won't buy. Real rings can be disposed anytime while tattoos!? you would have to cut your fingers should you decide to take it out. There could be an underlying meaning to it since tattoos can stick longer and even permanently than the real ones... and that is what precisely marriage is all about... sticking to one another despite all problems...

Im honestly not a fan of this. I guess that if you dont wear jewlery and you want to do the tatoo thing and you truly love each other enough to know youll always be together then its good. But i just am not the type of person to get a tattoo on my finger, no matter for what,

Getting a tattoo instead of wearing a wedding ring isn't my thing either. I not a tattoo person and the way things are going I never will get married! It isn't in the cards for me!
