The reason I ask is because I recently got a mixed dog and she was abused she is really tiny I can feel her bones also when I try to pet her she shys away and it makes me so mad that people can do this to animals I mean if you don't want them then give them away to people who will take care of them.

I do not like anyone who would abuse any animal. I got a border collie that had been abused. I have had him for a year now and he is doing a lot better. When we first got him he wouldn't come to anyone. If we tried to pet him he would shy away also. The lady that I got him from said that the people who had him before her had been the ones to abuse him. She had him for a year. In my opinion if she had him for a year and treated him well he would have not been so scared of people when we got him. He still shows signs of shying away but nowhere near as bad as he was when we first got him. He will do tricks and loves all over us now. I share the same feelings as you do about not wanting an animal. If you can't be good to them then give them away, someone will take them and love them.

I hate seeing neglected animals so much that I once stole my neighbor's dog. He wasn't really staying there much and this poor, skinny dog was chained up in the back under the porch. I live in Florida where it normally doesn't get very cold but a bad cold front was coming through and I couldn't let that dog stay out there in that weather. The guy who owned him is a friend of my husband's nephew and we tried to reach him but had no luck so I took the dog in. Three days later the guy showed up to complain. I gave him he11 for the way he was treating his dog and was going to refuse to return him until he told me that he was taking him to his mom's house, where someone will be there every day. So, I gave the dog back and every once in a while I drive past his mom's house. We live in a small town so I know her and where she lives.

I absolutely agree with you. It's horrible to see any animal mistreated, in my opinion. When we got our black/chocolate lab mix, Koda, he had been abused. My uncle had rescued him from people who had decided they didn't want puppies, so they tried drowning them, using a hammer to beat them in the head, and all sorts of awful things! I couldn't believe it. He's such a lovey dog, though, and he's an amazing family dog. He protected my cousin from a full grown coyote attack when he was only six months and he's a beloved member of the family. We're facing another situation like this now, except not quite the same. The house we're trying to buy has a horse on the property even though no one's living in the house. The realtor thinks the horse belongs to the Amish family living in the cottage next door, but he's not sure, and if that's the case then something's wrong with the horse and they're leaving it to die because the Amish take good care of their horses because they need to be healthy and work and this one is just in a sad state. It's got nothing but low-grade hay to eat, it's malnourished, it's losing clumps of fur, it's pretty thin, it looks like it needs to be shod, and it's coat is a mess and needs to be cleaned and brushed. I really want to take the horse in and feed it and everything, but hubby says no because we really can't afford it right now (not that that's ever stopped us before!). I just hate seeing it like that and I'm afraid of what they might do if we say they have to get it off our property if we get the house.

It makes me absolutely sick to see that there are people that abuse animals. I swear, it makes me want to strangle someone to see what they do to some animals. Occasionally you will see stories on the news about animals that have been abused and/or abandoned and I always cry when I see these kind of stories. Also, whenever I see that one of the local humane societies has seized a lot of animals I always want to donate some food or something to the cause of those animals.

you cannot call people who abuses animals as a human being. animals are so loving and carrying. they are smart and can bring so much joy to people. i have a dog for 2 years, i am taking him almost everywhere. he loves when we go fishing, and when he sees we put luggage, hi is the first in the car. he is lime my baby, not like a pet. and he is very careful with "his little sister", the cat, and also loves "his older sister", the turtle. my life was empty when i didn't have "my children".

I worked in the vet field for several years. I cannot tell you how my heart sank when I saw an abused animal or, worse, an animal killed by abuse. I am not sure why people get animals they do not want or why some people are so intent on keeping animals they do not want to take care of. I'm glad you took that little dog into your home so you can care for it.

I can not stand people who abuse animals. I watch Dogtown that features all of the great work Best Friends does helping animals. I also watch Animal Cops and am so digusted on how these scum people hurt animals and they get negleted. I also am shocked the laws for animal abuse are not a lot stricter. Most of these people just get a fine and a few months in jail. These animals feel pain and don't understand why they are treated this way. I also can't stand Michael Vick or as I call him THE DOG KILLER he makes me sick and I can't believe he was allowed to come back into The NFL. He will get all of his money back and no one care about all of the dogs he killed. Which we will never know the total amount. I think he is a piece of scum as are anyone who abuses animals!
