How did you propose, or how were you proposed to?

I think most women, like myself, have an idea or 'ideal' as to how our men would propose to us, but I'm guessing that most are far apart from our childhood fantasies. I am not yet married, therefore, I am curious. My mom was proposed by my dad in a not-so-special manner, she claimed that he just asked her if they could go the next level or start a family casually after 7years in the relationship. They even went together to buy their engagement rings. A friend of mine was proposed to in the park. They usually would go for picnics and that one particular picnic, he insisted that they take a photo to which he presented to her a cross-stitched piece of cloth with her name and the words "marry me" with a ring tied in the middle. Another friend of mine, who's going to get married this year, proposed to his long-time girlfriend while they were trying to pose on the shore. While the girl set the timer and was approaching him, he knelt and really got a photo of him kneeling and asking the girl to be his wife. How about you? or the person you know of?

My partner and I had been together for a while before he proposed. He's a guitarist and was on stage at a gig while I was sat by the stage. The guy finished off one song and started the next with the words "Will you Marry me"

i am still in a relation but not yet married, maybe in a time he will propose to me because i have a condition to get married. i want him to be fully stable before he would do that act. this was a story of my auntie, she is a cousin of my mother. she live in our house for 4 years. after 2 years of a relationship with his man. her partner proposed to him, my auntie was sleeping at that time. in my family we all know that her partner will proposed to him. but in our shock we expect that it is only himself that will come, but he bring his whole family and some relatives and they bring some food. so i wake up my auntie and i tell her that her partner is waiting. she was so shock and wondering why there are so many people. her partner proposed to him in front of many people and she yes. at that night they plan about the details in their wedding. after two months they got married. it was my fist time to see such proposal.

i wish my hubby had been a bit more romantic and original when he asked me to marry him but we were young and he was very nervous. we had gone for a walk and then he asked me. however, my co-worker who got married last year recieved her proposal on a lite brite (its a kids toy where you put in different coloured pegs to make a picture, flip the switch and it lights up.) i think that is pretty original!

My husband and I got engaged two years ago this past Valentine's Day. We've been married over eight months now. I got off work early that day and surprised him by driving an hour north to his house where he lived with his parents. I thought I surprised him when he gave me the best surprise. He'd had the ring for a while and was just waiting for the perfect opportunity. Since I surprised him by going up there on the most romantic day of the year, he decided he would take me on a horse-drawn carriage ride in Frankenmuth, Michigan, which was only fifteen minutes from where he lived at the time. I thought it was really sweet to celebrate the day together that way, and then he proposed to me on the carriage ride! Of course, I said "yes," and we've been happily engaged then married ever since! I thought it was so sweet because I had no idea how he'd pull it off. He's never been able to surprise me before because he always seemed to give himself away - LOL. Isn't it fun thinking about how you'll get engaged or how your friends will get engaged? I think guys are so creative! How fun. Great discussion.
