Whenever i say "l love you" to my love, she normally replies "the same to me". I normally tell her the best correct sentence to use is " the same to you". We have been arguing over this for the past one month. I am now confused and don't know which one is correct. I would be grateful if someone could share or let me know the correct sentence of the two and also give me reasons as why it is correct. Best regards.

The same to me means she is saying that she loves herself. The same to you, means she means the same towards you. Hence same to you, the same thing towards you. You are correct.

Well before i respond to jur question, let me say u r lucky enough that she responds to ur love. So never fight with her. " same to you" is the right sentence because she is wishing u. "Same to me" means she is wishing herself. Wish u luck.

You are correct: http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/same_to_you But why argue about her with it? Why not just accept this as one of her endearing quirks and let it go?
