My Aunt and I have been trying to get some raspberries to transplant from her yard (they were transplanted to her house from my Grandmother) to mine. They finally had some growth and were probably about 3ft or so tall last year. However where I put them my hubby likes to mow well he mowed them. Last year would of been year 2 of them being planted. Do you think they'd come back? I was hoping for fruit this year now all I can do is hope they took and start comming back.

If I'm not mistaken, the plants will come back this year, but they will not bear fruit. I think that is what they told us last year when we went on a tour of one of the local farms. I believe they said that most of the berry families need two years to bear fruit, so this year they will come back and they will grow, but there will not be any fruit on them. Next year, provided that your husband doesn't mow them again there should be fruit for you to enjoy.

It depends on the kind of raspberries but they're usually quite hardy plants. Some varieties need the old growth cut down every year either in the autumn for a summer fruiting variety, or in the spring for an autumn fruiting variety.
We have Fall Gold which is an autumn fruiting variety that has yellow berries, they are lovely and sweet and because they are yellow the birds tend to ignore them.

I have everbloom rasberries. And if they are cut down they will not bear fruit for two years. But this helps them to spread and produce more fruit on the older branches. That's my experience with mine. I have maybe 25-40 planted total. Each year I trim about 1/3 of mine to help them grow better so I never have all of them bearing fruit.
As always.....
