Does the MEDIA or NEWS use Brainwashing??

It appears whatever the media stresses people fall for,or is it they make it seem people are falling for it. For example every year around spring break march-april we here in U.S. hear about crime ridding Mexico and the drug cartels, violence, etc. They say please kids don't go to much crime, but yet all year round the same drug violence happens in every inner city and suburb in America and most of it goes unnoticed or you never hear what is going on until years end and the crime rate stats come out. Could it be refusal to have our citizens spend in a neighboring economy which the white house is not necessarily sure of as a "friend"(remember the Alamo ring a bell) or is it just lack in explaining real news that is happening around the world like our two wars which depending on the day you hear little or nothing about as if there are days of utter silence and peace in the world. Am I the only one wondering who does the polls that the media goes by? To represent the people cause if 65% of Americans believe such and such, how come I was not polled, how can that speak for me? Why are questions in debates selected before hand? Where is swine flu is it asleep or is it because the weather is getting warmer and insurance companies make less if it is not "cold" season. Or was it a mass experiment to see how the people will react with a pandemic or in case they wanted to put a chip to control your every thought every breath (The movie I am legend ring a bell?) Could the movie industry work with the media so that the "best movies of the year" subliminally are for a political cause or to change public opinion in some way without your knowledge? Things are more and more seeming like the movie the matrix "Take the blue pill or the red pill" with the possible brainwashing now I'm always thinking either you seek the truth or let someone else tell you their truth and you believe it. What do you think is there any brainwashing in MEDIA or just honest critique of every day events by honest people who are working to give us the facts.(If so name some also).

I do not think it is just the media but also popular culture in general. You can tell they have an agenda and they want you to think the way they do about things. I do not like it too much but I think alot of it has to do with who has the money controls the media. I think that is what is happening today. Money and power is controling media and popular culture.

Yes pop culture is also being controlled, and your seeing more and more merging of pop and politics or pop and economics. They both feed of each other media says "you bring the people we give you the bucks now go out there and preach our agenda we want out. "

There is no question. The media's purpose is to control what people think and feel. It is not surprising that 85% of the media is owned by one person, Rupert Murdoch. If you control the media then you in turn control the people. And what better way to control people than by instilling fear. When people are scared, you can manipulate what they will do. Look at what happened after 911. The government was able to use that fear to push for the war in Iraq. Also, would Americans have agreed to the bailout if the media did not force us to believe that if we didn't there would be an economic collapse? Let's not forget all the commercials between every TV show. People are forced to buy things that they don't really need, but do it because it makes them feel better. Essentially the media controls what you see, believe, need to buy, what you eat, what is sexy, where you should vacation....

You are so right!! I remember watch g.w standing on the rubble horn in hand and just saying lets go get the guys that did this and everyone yelled yeahhhh!!!!! and claped and cheered. Now almost a decade later many people that once were all for the fighting are now saying look at this mess, we need to get out, end this war etc.. Even Mr I intend to take the fight into afghanistan led hes followers to thinking leaving one place in bulk to fight in other will make fighting easier the fight where as the population really has no clue that afghanistan is a way harder fight. And the commercials are just ridiculous constantly forced to watch them to the point every other one you can recite word for word.

yes i agree with you. they do somewhat. in media we can find two kind of people who are working. one who works for money only and other who love this profession. and the first person is very dangerous for this profession and also for the society. they just mold the story to either make this interesting or to affect the society to bring the advantage to some one. so there are things which should be kept in mind while watching any news on tv. as all the things should not be believed by closed eyes only.

The media is a very powerful tool. Those who control the media, control the thoughts of the ignorant masses. After all, most people watch the News to get their information, so slant that a certain way, and there can be some amount of brainwashing involved. There are a lot of times where the news just makes us think things are going a certain way, so obviously we are going to do things that justify that, because we have heard it in the news. People in general are paranoid and the media fuels that. In many ways, they know that they are going to get those eyeballs watching and in the end, its all about the ratings.

I wouldn't call it brainwashing as the Media does tend to twist facts to suit their own needs. Like the swine flu problem, they reported only so markerts of the up-and-coming now-existing-flu-shot would be jumping all over themselves to get it. The news just helped someone else's bottom line so they could get rich off another flu shot. Seriously if the swine flu was so "dangerous" why would doing simple stupid things people should be doing on a daily basis anyway actually kill this "swine flu?" uh.... that spells no big deal. People are going to get sick, they are going to either survive or die... its life. Don't worry next year, there will be a new flu to worry about. I don't really pay that much attention on what's going on in the news. George my partner only watches it for the weather. Even that's a crap shoot as to weather its going to be right or wrong.
