Well this photo shows some of my flower beds I started to clean up today. This area goes all the way to the green garbage cans. 4 different areas in all. Raked up the old mulch, weeded some, as well as dug up around the flowers etc to get the soil ready for new mulch etc. Have you started your flower bed preparations yet? It got to over 70 today. I was sweating like a pig after awhile. It had to be near 80 in the sunshine. Ahhh spring. But wait. The calendar still says winter? Hmmmm? Snow and rain due Friday though here in Minnesota I hear.
As always.....

I dig the weeds up this time of year as opposed to spraying
or pulling them out. Digging them up gets almost all the
roots so it's better for me anyhow.

I used to pull weeds too, but I had a smaller lot, a better back and a flat lot (the front of our lot is very steep). So now we spray...

Snow?!
Well, at least you have a head start on the flower beds. It's 60 here, sunny, nice enough to sit out in the sunshine, which the dogs and I have been doing. Feels so good!
I'm not planting flowers in the back this year except some impatiens in the shade of the garage, the rest of the growing is going to be vegetables. I removed the shrubs from the front of the house last fall and will have flowers there this year instead. It'll be beautiful!

Thats way I have been doing the past two days. Yard clean up. Its been in the 60's, beautiful weather. Tonight was the night for setting out the trash can for pick up, perfect timing with the weather. I still have more to do but got a good start on the spring clean up. Ah wonderful spring. We are supposed to get a touch of winter too, but a least we know it won't stick around. Happy Spring..

Well, being as I am home all day watching dad, I have got to do something every day to get away from him. Even if it means just getting into the yard.

Hi GRANDPA BOB,
You certainley making hay while the sun shone, it is sunny here but very cold still and it has been very windy of late, so make the best of it while the weather is holding but please don't work too hard, you don't want to be walking about with bad back.

i set to at the weekend just gone, to get the garden cleaned up. i am lucky enough not to have too many weeds just some horrible creeping stuff that crops up all over the place. i do get moss in some of the containers. funny you saying about the temperature in the usa. Here in GB we have what the forecasters call mild weather at the moment. it may have been 70 degrees in the green house and cold frame, but still wants a bit more warming up at the moment. and like you, rain is forecast for the weekend.
