Are Your Feet In Good Conditon..Or Are They An Embarrassment?

I started this discussion after what happened to David Beckham the other day (foot injury)...then I started thinking about his Mrs and the huge bunion on her big toe due to tight-fitting high heels she has been wearing over the years.
Do you have any bunions? How do you treat them?
I am fortunate as my feet don't actually look too bad. Right from being little I have always had decent shoes. My Mum would look at a shop assistant with disdain if he or she said "Let her try them in another size!" NO WAY! If the shoes didn't fit they didn't fit, it's no good trying to flannel us with the "try a new size" routine lol.
As far as high heels goes...well, the condition of the pavements in Carlisle is appalling and, in Town, I would have to cross road junctions with cobbles, yes COBBLES on the ground a la "Coronation Street." In fact, we have cobbles down our street and I cannot stand them. They don't half hurt my feet, even if I have flat shoes on! I don't really like those bobbles at Pedestrian Crossings either. Yes, I know they are for the blind to establish the fact they are at such a crossing but the bobbles dig into the soles like sharp instruments..not pleasant!
However, when I do wear high heels I love it because it forces one to stand up straight (not that I'm hunched over or anything) but wearers will know what I mean.
I do think, though, that if I wore such heels all the time my feet would suffer. I admire women who wear them all the time but, my question remains...are your feet in good condition..or are they an embarrassment?
Do tell, and that goes for the guys as well. I know for a fact my Dad has bad feet but it's not due to high heels, just poor, cheap shoes. He certainly doesn't take after me and his Mrs!

Hi Janey,
I have small feet and I cannot wear high heel shoes, though I would have love to just to give me a bit of height, but I can't, I live in my trainers but if I was going anywhere special, I have a few pairs of boots and shoes which don't have any high heel, just flats and my feet are fine.

How small are your feet my friend? My Mum is a size 3 (UK size), maybe a size 2 now as she is shrinking with age(!) but she has been known to wear some awesome high heels when she has been out..and they look brilliant on her diddy feet. Some websites specialise in smaller shoe sizes but I guess you love your flatties and good for you as I have had some brilliant flat boots in my time, much comfier than the heeled varieties.

I don't wear heels, mainly due to having a bad back. But are my feet in good condition? Well, no bunions at least. But I do have psoriasis and it's in my nails and it looks rather similar to nail fungus, so that is annoying.

Sorry to hear that Dawn.
The thing is my feet look OK but I can't show them off due to them being clammy. I do have some Aerosoles which you may be familiar with (I actually bought them in Vegas cos my feet were hurting so much) but I haven't worn them as much as I wanted to for the simple reason it ain't hot enough in this weird country!

fortunately, they are still not too bad... i admit that my feet are not in a perfect conditions... but there are still OK... yes, i do have bunions on my feet... but they are getting better now and hardly can be seen anymore... i try not to wear tight-fitting and high heel shoes too much anymore to protect my feet... also, when i buy shoes, i make sure that i choose the good materials one so that it won't damage my feet... take care and have a nice day...

I have often wondered if bunions are treatable? At least you are making good decisions about your footwear which has helped to get the bunions down in size. Good for you my friend!

I suppose the surgery was necessary though but I can understand your frustration at not being able to wear "revealing shoes" as you call it.

as far as i know since i have allergy in my foot i guess its not nice and good though i can still wear flipflop. right now that im pregnant i cant use the cream that im using so ill just use oil in it to moisturize and coz it looks like flaky but if theres oil in it it will smoothen the skin though its still itchy but i need to just take it for my baby sake. i also admire women with those nice feet i feel like i can wear any kind of foot wear with it without being embarrass.

Congratulations on becoming pregnant
although it must be frustrating for you not being able to use the cream you have done in the past. Hopefully, once the baby come along you will be able to go back to the cream.

My feet are quite ordinary in shape but I do get pink toes.
It isnt athletes foot, it is like they have has a burn and it is sort of hot but not itchy or sore. If I leave them alone, it eventually goes back to normal.
My mums feet were terrible.
Very mishapen due to ballet shoes.
Her big toe on both feet was forced across almost under all the others.
She never seemed to mind.
My husband has one big toe that is beginning to stick out at the sides but has been told it is a misaligned joint not a bunion at all.

Yes, I've heard that before about ballet dancers having trouble with their feet (and probably their joints as well) I would think. Wonderful to be able to ballet dance in the first place so your Mum must have had a lot of skill.
I've heard too that these flat pumps that many girls wear are just as bad for their feet as high heels, something to do with the soles being poor and the fact that the feet banging down on the floor all the time doesn't do them much good.
I think we should all wear Hush Puppies or trainers!

I have never worn high heels in my life.
My daughter does, she is crazy though LOL
Mum was good enough to teach ballet but she had a huge scar on her arm which stopped her being able to perform on stage although she did if it was costume dance.

I think my feet look very good. I am a guy and it does not require so much to look
good. They don't smell and thank God because I hate that. I have always bought
comfortable shoes - never bought ones that are just nice looking and
uncomfortable to wear. I assume that expensive shoes are conducive to good feet,
but not always. It is not necessary to buy expensive shoes, it is necessary to buy
comfortable ones. My girlfriend is a type of person who walks with high-heel shoes
90 % of the time and she never complained because she is used to. Exercising is
vital too. If you don't walk at least 30 minutes a day the feet become weak, i've
also heard it is bad to stay still in one place because it causes varicose veins.
People which work requires upright position almost all day does not have good feet
after a long period of time because they suffer some damage. Protecting yor feet
is important if we want to look good after years.

Yes, feet do get neglected my friend, we take them for granted don't we? I believe Air Hostesses have problems with their feet (and legs) because they are continuously walking...and along with the pressurised conditions on aeroplanes I should imagine looking after their feet is a must..the same goes for their skin. I do know that Air Hostesses are the first to test new creams that companies like Clarins bring out...especially for their legs and face. Don't know about the feet though!

I'm a man and I wear comfortable shoes, even in kendo practice we take our shoes off, and the floor is smooth, no injuries :)
And I think girls wear comfortable shoes too, usually older woman wears high heals and such, when I was little I tried my mom's high heals shoes, that's a pain to even walk...
Indeed high heals looks more classy, but it doesn't worth it in my opinion...
