It's a lot of trouble and hassle to go back...

Hi everyone! Have you recntly visited or tried to visit the school you attended when you were still a student? I got a chance to go to my school the other day. However, it's always been like it with all the other alumni before me. They told me it was difficult to go back and visit. I was there and told the guards that I was a student and presented my old ID. They asked me what my purpose was. I told them I was going to meet one of my teachers whom they called through phone. I made a small rant while I was there: "I studied here since I was kinder and I can't get in?" With that, I had in my mind: "Does an alumna have to have a reason just to get in and visit her alma mater?" Thank goodness one of the guards was familiar with me. If he wasn't there, I may have never got the chance to get in in the first place. How about you? Have you been to your old school lately? Is it easy to enter or do you have to go through some stuff that you think an alumnus/alumna does not have to go through? After all, it was and would still be your school right? Thanks for reading and have a nice day!

Hello Enslin Porter, I have not returned to my old school for the longest time. But the last time I was there, I think about 10 years ago, entering the campus was not so difficult. I just have to leave my valid ID on the guard post, and I can go inside. It was nice visiting my old school, getting to see my old teachers. Looks like your school have a very tight security measures or maybe that was just the instruction they got from their supervisor. Maybe they are just following rules, so don't be too upset, good thing you were still able to enter your old school. Isn't it fun to be back there?

Hi red_amethyst! It sure is fun to go back to the school. The security measures sure were very tight though. It also is the case with other alumni. I wanted to visit my teacher that time but all I really wanted to do was go around. They required a reason for any alumni getting inside. I understand the guards but I don't quite understand the policy. That's cool that you can easily get inside your school and meet your old teachers. That must be nostalgic

Yes, the policy is quite tight, you should have told you old teacher of what happened so that they can a look at the issue and might loosen up for the alumni.

I completely agree that it should be your right to visit your old school. I am also not surprised that you had difficulty visiting in this day and age. People are becoming overly cautious in the protection of children. Maybe it is warranted, but If you are a returning former student that should allow you some amount of leniency.

Hi cd_lear, thanks for your response! I really hope they just let former students get in easily. I remember though that there was a time, graduation I think, when an outsider was able to come in and steal something. I think the security was able to capture that person though.
