An Ohio Congressman is extremely, and rightfully so, that his children were featured in an ad on the Health Care Debate. It is interesting that it is OK to attack and demean Republican Children but not the children of Democrats. Maybe he should have spoken out against the attacks on President Bushes Daughters and Gov. Palin's children so the media fully understood that children are off limits or maybe only when it is your children.

I have come to the conclusion that if you don't want your children, your family, your associations, and your past used against you then stay the hell out of public office. Public life is different from private life, and if you want privacy, then stay out of public life.

I disagree, I think the press should show more respect. Maybe this is part of the reason the lamestream media is losing views and readers.

Have you seen what a field day the paparazzi has had with Britney Spears and her children? You really think that the press, particularly talking pieces, would treat politicians any better? You and I don't disagree - I think children should be off-limits. They are too young to affiliate with a political party, but, once their parents start parading them, then they become fair play.

Out of curiosity, what is this congressman's stance on healthcare? I only ask, because both Bush and Palin were all about the sanctity of marriage and traditional families. They were both in glass houses, throwing stones, when one has a 17-year-old mother for a daughter, and the other has two girls sneaking into bars under age. People took shots at Chelsea Clinton, too, so it is not all focused on republicans. I don't think kids are fair game, but, if Palin is going to flaunt that her son is in the military, she is opening the window to allow her children to be criticized.

An after thought, I do remember Palin bringing her baby on stage at a speech once, so, if they are going to openly and willingly use them as a pawn one way, they better be prepared for the backlash.

President Obama has had his children on state many time but told the press they were off limits and they dutifully obeyed. Michelle Obama has used her children as an example to push her agenda. Don't get me wrong I think the exploitation of the families of politicians is wrong regardless of their positions on issues. VP Chaney daughter has put herself in the news and that is different. Children under age should be off limits.

I agree. Children should be off limits.
