I was watching a special on lions in the wild and my cats were both cuddling with me on the couch. The mother cat was taking care of her kittens and it was all happy and peaceful until a hyenna got too close to the pride and the male lion went off. He was magnificent and roared hugely, and was up and running instantly and the hyenna went off very fast. My cats were dozing and not really doing much except being petted. They are rather spoiled. BUT as soon as the male lion roared, my girl Cleo was up, on her feet and across towards the Tv super fast. She was riveted to the screen for the rest of the program. Which was almost an hour!! Now whenever I put the Tv on, she races to check it out. I fell asleep to Animal Planet and a story about an animal rescue group. When I woke up about an hour later, there Cleo was front and center of the tv as chimps played in the trees. Think I might have a Huge Animal Planet or at least Animal shows Fan!! Do your cats ever watch tv? If so for how long? What kinds of programs?

I have heard that animals, especially cats Love to watch TV and movies, especially if there is a Cat in the shows. My best friends cat loves to watch TV and any barking dog on their will excite her as well. I think it is just something different and maybe she just wishes she was there with them, and feels like she is watching them.

Cleo is almost 4 years old so this is a new thing for her. I love nature shows and watch them regularly, but she never really paid much attention til the Lions. She loved the chimps. Today she was enthralled with the shark one but it might have been all the pretty reef fish...jury is still out on that one! It would be very interesting to know what she is thinking as she watches them. Take care and be well!

Cleo used to do that but we had to train her not to jump up there since she was always messing up the cable signal. We improved her not trying to sleept here but never really won that battle. Finally, she taught herself to not venture up on top of the Tv since she got caught in the cable wires once and freaked out. It was funny and yet I tried hard not to laugh cause she seemed to think it was trying to kill her when her foot got caught. She was shaking like a little leaf when we got her free. Hasn't done it since. Welcome to Mylotting!!! Take care!

My big siamese, Marvin loves anything with birds especially cardinals. He goes nuts and runs up to the TV to stalk his prey. He has also watched fishing shows.

Moomin always seems to watch the nature programmes when he's sprawled out in front of the television. We were watching television over the weekend and a cat food commercial came on. Moomin was instantly awake and watching, he will miouw sometimes if he hears cats on television too, and will happily sit next to me on the sofa to watch NCIS

My cats really don't watch t.v. that often. But my cat Precious did watch house hunters with me. He was gluing him to the screen and he enjoyed it I think. And, it was our new flat screen so he could easily get right up to it. Cats are strange like that.

Maybe he was checking out the new technology and unhappy that there was no cuddling up to the warm TV anymore! And I agree, Cats never fail to surprise me with all their little quirks, just like people. Thanks for sharing!
