How do i get more refrerals to my sites ? / myLot

I know that i can buy refs from site owners, use the task section of mylot & get refs from ptsu & adwords. Is there a better/ more effective & cheaper way that i have missed out ?

Freeviral.com is a site where you can get alot of free traffic.

Thanks for the suggestion, will try. But some sites that i joined gave me a lot of traffic & no conversions, is freeviral different?? Dear Masterchief, Traffic means no:of persons visiting your site/ ref link.
