Reasons for Not Getting What you Asked for in your Prayers.

I started a discussion a while back about who believes that God doesnt answer their prayers, and I let them know that sometimes the answer is NO!, today however I would like to write down why the answer may be NO! 1. James 4:3 "Ye ask and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. Which means that your reasons for asking (praying)is because it is something that you simply lust after. 2. Psalms 66:18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me. Which means if you have sin in your heart, God will not listen to what you are asking for. The bible tells you that God knows what is in your heart. 3. James 1: 6-7 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not a man think that he shall recieve anything of the Lord. Which means that if you do not have faith, that you will get what you need, your prayers will not be given to you. You should also realize that God does not owe you anything and he doesnt have to give you what you ask for, but if you have faith, he will. 4. Matthew 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions as the heathen do for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Which means dont keep asking for things you dont need over and over again. He heard you the first time and if the answer was No, it will still be No when you ask again. 5. Proverb 28:9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination. Which means if you hear the Word of God and you do not follow it then your answers will not matter much. 6. 1 Peter 3:7 Likewise, ye husbands dwell with them according to knowledge, given honor unto his wife as unto the weaker vessel and as being heirs together of the grace of live that your prayers be not hindered. It means if you fail to respect your partner, then so shall the Lord not respect you. These are just a few of the reasons why your what you asked for in prayer may not be given to you. Do you agree with what is said here.

It would nice and polite if God would only talk to me when I pray and talk to Him. Just to hear His voice would be enough.

I told you God doesn't speak to me, I do listen. I have been trying for nearly seventy years. Maybe I am deaf. Do you really hear His voice? or you are trying to bamboozle me.

I don't know about you, but he is loud and clear to his believers, you have to hear him in your heart and your mind and in your soul. I don't have to bamboozle you because I have done my job, I have offered you the Good News, (see, Jesus Lives) and you can choose not to accept but that is really not my fault because you chose to walk away. One thing I am sure of is that if you choose not to give yourself to God there are millions upon millions who will and Jesus does not need anyone, owe anyone anything or need you to believe in him, however if you don't you will be punished and it is very lonely in Hell. Now while I mean that sincerely, you don't have to believe, however why come to my boards just to say that. It is irritating, and my questions did not point you out.

Sometimes listening to his voice requires you to just be a little quieter and hear what he is saying.

Wow you couldn't find anything but to tell this person that you never heard the bible talk, the bible does talk just as every work does. If you write it, it is a form of communication which means it speaks to you. Now he said it spoke to him why does that have to be talked about like he said something bad.

You can talk about a book and if you talk to it it won't hear you.

Hello! Thanks for this wonderful inspiring post. I am also suffering from emotional troubles right now, I prayed that time allow me to have at least some little piece of serenity, lots of things I prayed, but then, it seems everything melted into the horizon and none of those were answered. I left wondering why, when what I've been doing is to do good all the time, obeying the will of God. But then I realized that maybe God has good reasons for not granting my prayers. You are right, maybe I am guilty of something that's why God did not listen to my prayers.

If you are guilty, ask for forgiveness, if you are unsure ask for forgiveness, believe that he has your best interest in heart and be sincere in asking for forgiveness and you will see that some of your prayers will be answered.

Whenever I try to find reasons for not getting what I asked for in my Prayers, I read following chapters in the bible. These verses do provide me an answer. Genesis 3:19 in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground. It means God will give me nothing for asking. I will have to toil for it. I must deserve what I had asked for and if I don’t then He would make me wait. Another thing is whenever God gives us something he gives us not only we have asked for but also what we did not ask. 1King 3:13 “And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked”. It is the thing, which I did not ask and God gave it to me make me wish otherwise. Little I know that God gave it to me to make me more deserving. Another verse I admire the most is what is written at Matthew 7:9-11. It says, “Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?” It means God would not give me bread just for a day but he would teach me the means to earn it every day. I would not give me the fish so I might have it just for a day but he would teach me to catch fish so I may have it every day. Even in our daily life, don’t we deny our children if it is bad for them. We deny even if we want to give them something better than what they want. God is our father. He knows what is bad and what is better for us.

You know I am a big fan of yours achilles, but while it is true that you will toil, God is not using that passage to say you will get nothing unless you work hard. If it said that then people born with disease who could never work, will die in vain. God says numerous times that he will give you anything you ask for if you believe in him. and you must learn how to quote scripture before you agree or disagree with people. Answer me when I call to you, O my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; be merciful to me and hear my prayer. Psalm 4:1 The LORD has heard my cry for mercy; the LORD accepts my prayer. Psalm 6:9 Yet when they were ill, I put on sackcloth and humbled myself with fasting. When my prayers returned to me unanswered psalm 35:13 This is just a few, a couple of the places that says God will give you your prayers as he gives them to everyone however, God will send them when he is ready and not when you are, and he will give you what you asked for unless the answer is no.

God gave the Israelites what I called promised food, before he got his children he promised to feed them, and he did. However for all their grumbling, they were unable to get what they really wanted which was entry into the promise land, for a very long time. Until they understood that God had them covered. Many times people will grumble just like these people, however God still answers your prayers, you may not always get what you want, but you will always get what you need.

I like the way you have quoted the scriptures. It saves lots of unnecessary words. Did God give Israelite 'Manna from Heaven' for asking? They were not praying but murmuring against God.
