If you haven't read the online version of the health care bill, but still want to know what's in it, view this YouTube video. This is not just healthcare, it is a complete socialist takeover of our govenment.

so·cial·ism
a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.
And? What's wrong with that? Seems to me, if this system was utilized, our country would be much better off in the long run.

The USA is a republic and has always thrived being a capitalist society. We don't need universal anything, what we need is a return of the masses to the values that made America the great country it is.

The sad fact is that most Americans have been taught that "socialism" is a dirty word. Something akin to communism, at least that's what I was taught in school.
Clrumfelt, capitalism doesn't serve anybody. All it means, to me at least, is the rich get richer and the poor don't stand a chance. It takes money to make money and for those that don't have any, the only way to get some is either illegally or go into debt. My personal belief about what made America a great country was the fact that there was an honest days work for an honest days pay (that no longer exists), honesty and integrity in business dealings (no longer exist), a man's word was his bond (no longer exists). These are the first things that pop to mind. Unfortunately, I don't see that changing any time soon and I blame it on capitalism.
I'm with you Enemy! The U.S. of A. is crumbling under it's citizens feet and so many refuse to see it. That's why real change will never happen. Living in a bubble for so many generations does not a realistic view provide.

I'd say that the two first are communism more than socialism, although there are probably better words. But my one American friend who called himself a communist was in my opinion a not very radical socialist, so I suppose that it doesn't take much for some people to think that the US is turning socialistic :-)

Hi there!
I've noticed that. I've wondered whether I should do the capitalism = fasicsm or naziscm, but that would be ironic or sarcastic, only stupid so I'll have to find something else I can assume it's the same as. Possibly something not involving Hitler, it's so unoriginal :-)
It's much easier to discuss politics that way of course. Most European countries probably have a party based on that. (along the lines of FPÖ in Austria) Annoyingly popular and very clear on who the enemy is, and very good to see the world in black and white.

US was a country born of extreme radicalism that over time has become more and more conservative and reactionary, a return to radicalism is, perhaps, long overdue.

Still sucking eggs over the Revolutionary War, eh? I'll pass on Obama's brand of radicalism. It's not fit for freedom-loving people or for a nation of the high ideals on which the USA is founded.

I was listening to a FACTCHECK on much of this propaganda, and the vast majority of this is WRONG, or are using numbers that MIGHT happen. I do find it funny on Friday I was talking to the owner of a garbage company, and he just got two e-mails: One from his industry trade group, and another from the US chamber of commerce. The first one said that if you employ less than 40 people you will actually SAVE money. He said he did the math, and it would save him about $35,000 a year. The second was saying that he would be forced to pay $500,000 more a year. He laughed and asked me which one I believe is correct. That is how crazy this is.

I seem to recall the warnings from the right a few months ago that if reform passes insurance premiums would go up by double digits. Nothing happened for months and - SURPRISE - some people's premiums went up by 30-40%! We saw real quickly how much better off we'd be if we did nothing!

It IS crazy. I would never have believed Congress would even consider passing a catastrophe like the current health care bill.

Clrum, the thing that makes me laugh about this is people are saying that the cost MIGHT increase. Health care in the United States had increased EVERY YEAR FOR THE PAST 10, with it increasing double digits the last five. I don't agree with everything in this bill, but it is a start. If we don't do something soon, it will cost more for health care a month than your mortgage payment. It is like building a house: You have to start somewhere!!!
