I love the taste of most smoked cheeses! I've only ever had one kind that I didn't like and it was smoked string cheese. The smoked flavor was way too strong. Some of my favorite smoked cheeses are smoked gouda and smoked provolone. The smoke flavor just gives the cheese SO much more flavor. Are you a fan of smoked cheese? Why or why not? If you are a fan, is there a particular type you like smoked?

They sell smoked cheese at most of the grocery stores I've been in. Check at your deli in the speciality type cheese section.

I do not like smoked cheeses, precisely because of the added smokey flavor. I feel it masks the delicate flavors of many cheeses and is just unnecessary. Some cheeses seem naturally smokey enough. I like all kinds of cheeses, from mild to strong, just not smoked.

I'm realizing that, living in a country with 365 cheeses, I can name only a smoked cheese, brézain : it's used for raclettes, in salads, or served with drinks, but never with other cheeses at the end of a meal. Some fresh goat cheeses are covered with wood ashes and have a small smoked flavor, but they are not smoked. Personally, I like strong cheeses and prefer when they taste really like cheese.
