Everything in this world seems bad now

I am so depressed. It seems like everything that can go wrong and everything that is evil or bad is happening. My friend just lost her 2 birdies of almost 20 years. Another friend's cat is only 3 and has cancer. Our water heater is only 2 years old and has stopped working. Obama's stupid health care bill passed. Now there will be no middle class in the US, only rich or poor. Problems with a couple of employees at work. Health problems. How can one go on. Soon the US will be a socialist country. No more freedom. Very sad.

things are going to continue to get worse, we are living on a planet ruled by devils that have no cares for anyone or anything but themselves. So until God comes, we have to endure whatever comes our way. but on a not so depressing note things will get better, it can't keep getting worse. eventually it has to stop. hope you feel better.

I agree. When your focus is a happy one, you do tend to momentarily stop thinking about all the sadness in the world. I only wish for me that it would last. It does make me happy to hear that someone loves their precious bundle like I do.

The same is has happened here in Europe. We have no middle class either. I used to be middle, now I am happy if I have food in the refrigerator. I am happy that I still have my computer. It is old, but it still works. As for being depressed. I was too. But you know what? By thinking about all these negative things, you get even more depressed. Try to make the best of it. Try to think positive. I know it is hard, and I have days that it does not go for me either. But, facts are facts, change what you can, except what you can't change. Good luck. Take care.

That is great advice. I guess you can look at the glass half empty or half full. There is a lot of stuff that you cannot change but there is also stuff that you can change, like your attitude. I will try to take your advice. There are still things that will bother me but you are right, just happy to have food in the frig is a good start to think about. I appreciate your response.

I am sorry that you are feeling down and out. I have time like that too and they are difficult to get out of. I feel bad for your friend’s loss with her birds, I can relate because I get very attached to my animals and I’ve lost a few which devastated me at the time. I lost my thirteen year old cat to cancer and it is a rough thing to go through; it seems very young for a three year old cat to have it. Is there anyone way the vet can help him? I live in Australia so I won’t be commenting about your political state over there but I can appreciate how the state of the economy and the government policies can bring you to a state of depression! I would at least try to turn your thinking around by focusing on the good things in your life for a while; it may help a bit.

Thank you for your thoughtful response. Suffering loss is one of the hardest things a sensitive, caring person has to deal with. I wish I knew of a magic way to feel better when experiencing these mind-devastating situations but unfortunately there isn't. Time is the only thing that can put distance between thoughts and pain and if one is lucky enough to hang on for time to pass, one does find that time does cause a bad memory to fade somewhat but it never goes away completely. Time has also revealed the face of our economy and will continue to do so. Some things may improve for some but other things will get worse for some. I still believe that the "middle class" in America will be hit the hardest by changes to come and that life will get better for some of those who have their hand out for a free ride. Injustice continues to thrive.

I agree, and it's not just happening in the US. Actually some third world countries out there are experiencing worse problems. I'm personally having a problem dealing with bad people out there - you know, those who can't shut their mouths if they have nothing good to say about other people. I'm glad I'm not too affected, but really, it could be annoying sometimes, and I'd be happy to have them disappear in my life.

It is good that you are not too affected. I know there are bad things happening all over the world. Some of those things also make me depressed. So many people have all kinds of different personalities that I guess we cannot all get along. I would like a few people to disappear from my life also, I work with them. I hate the abusive things that happen to children and to animals. This world is very cruel. It is hard not to be depressed about these things.

Sadly, our earth's environment is getting worse and worse. I am worried about its future.

We take a lot for granted these days. I often wonder what it would have been like living in the horse and buggy days. Life seemed so much simplier in those days. Of course there was war, which is awful and sad but I bet there was less polution and happier and healthier people except for certain plagues and diseases that we now have cures for. I recycle. I do not eat any animal products or wear any animal products. It is not only the environment and what we humans are doing to destroy it that I worry about; it is what we humans do to other humans and to animals that sends me into a tailspin.

Yes, sometimes I am very longing for the life in the old days. Although life in the past didn't have many sorts of entertainment, travels and technology products, it was much more simpler and purer, which is very rare in our modern days. What's more, the environment in the past was very nice for human beings to live in. People at that time didn't need to warry about sandstorms, etc. How wonderful!

I am sorry to hear that, even more sorrier that you see nothing but negative things happening to you. I know life is not easy and sometimes things don't go our way but feeling sad or worrying is not going to help you nor is going to make those things go away. Being positive and focusing on the good stuff is a thousand times better than dwelling or thinking about the bad stuff.
