In the future if you fall sick thousands of miles away from home, you may be treated by your own doctor by robot proxy.

A new technology is allowing doctors to treat their patients tens or thousands of miles away from where their offices or homes are via the "Robot Doctor" program. A robot doctor is exactly that, a robot that comes with a screen that is the 'head' and cameras are the doctor's eyes and ears. Robots can allow your personal doctor to check up on you in the middle of the night too if you are recovering from an operation.

Robot docs may cut into that problem too as doctors suffer commuter hell along with the rest of us.

Early adopters are usually expensive and in few places. Costs eventually fall as things catch on and prove themselves useful, then they spread like wildfire.
